very entertaining read! perhaps the best m&b historical i've read so far...

unconventional regency heroines will always be my kryptonite! loved the commentary on sexism and spinsterhood from horatia. nick was a great hero too - and his family history gave him added dimension. he wasn't a rake just for the sake of it, there was interesting reasoning behind his behaviour. the couple had a great back-and-forth, making this book a page turner!

the mystery felt a bit under-baked, but i blame that more on the word limit that burrows herself.
