In one sentence, this is not the best I've read, but it's not the worst either.

It is exactly what you think it is: a rom-com as a book (more romance than comedy but there are funny moments). Not a ton a depth in the characters, but that’s not why I’m reading this style of book

Classic 1 day read to get you through a book lull! I thought the story was cute (a little unrealistic, but that’s not always why we read a book) and a good dose of frustrating to keep you reading to the end.

Cute ending, but super rushed. It could’ve been much shorter. It got so boring and the story was so long with so unnecessary situations. I pushed myself to not DNF it.

If you’re a hopeless romantic who believes in love at first sight you’ll be smitten with this one. But that’s just not me. Their love was too messy & complicated. The redeeming qualities were the lovable characters and their sweet friendships.

I don't typically love strictly romance novels. I like romantasy or literary fiction that also features romance, etc. I usually find romance novels lacking in the depth and excitement departments. So the fact that I loved this one says a lot, I think.

I cried at least 5 times throughout this book. And I love books that can make me cry. It is just so beautiful and I was fully invested in how these characters' lives would unfold. There were also quite a few good quotes that I found relatable which is another thing I love in books.

Here’s your next romantic comedy film. Not yet but possibly. It’s a sweet story reminiscent of While You Were Sleeping, albeit taking a different path. It’s a holiday love story mostly occurring around Christmas and New Year’s as well as other special occasions. The writing is funny and light but also covers the rollercoasters of life and relationships. I was hooked opening paragraph and chapter, and was surprised several times by the turns the plot takes. Endearing read. Hoping a new holiday movie eventually comes from it.

While this may not blow your literary socks off, it will make you cheer for Laurie, and it will make you smile. Sometimes it’s nice to do a little light reading where you’re watching and waiting for the happy ending around the corner.

This book was an emotional roller coaster for me. There were moments of happiness, sadness, frustration, anger, and elation. I smiled, laughed, and cried while reading this book.
