The first 45% of this book is not a dark romance, it's just dark. Addie finds herself in an absolutely terrifying situation that is very hard to read about. The only reason I was able to keep pushing through was because I knew eventually the author was going to get her and Zaid back together. The second half of the book brings back the spice that I came to expect after reading the first book. However, the depiction of the Romance takes an especially dark turn in this novel. Obviously, Addy and Zaid have never had a normal relationship, but the depictions of violence against each other in this book were perhaps a bit too dramatic. I am not a fan of reading about knife play, so most of the spicy scenes were not for me. Overall, I really enjoyed the ending and I'm glad that Addie and Zaid got there "happily" ever after.

This book killed me from the inside. I can’t even deny it. The exploration of trafficking and non-consensual relationships and rape and child abuse destroyed my soul. The book wasn’t scared to describe things that are common occurrence these days.

To say I sobbed at parts is an understatement. I couldn’t give this book a five star because even though it was an incredible book, the realism and outcomes of some of the instances will be beyond belief. As happy as I am with the outcome, it still wasn’t believable.

I will continue to read books by this offer because they are incredibly written and I absolutely love Sibby. Her character and the way she is written into the story not being a main character is incredible and leads into Satan‘s affair.

The first book was fun. This book felt rushed and the author really needed to do some basic research into recovery from sexual violence and PTSD.

I absolutely loved this book. It made me laugh, cry, hate and love. The second one is definitely way more darker then the first one which makes it more realistic. Nothing is just black or white, there's a variety of grey resembled in MMC, Zade, and other characters.
I'm really grateful to the author for writing about this themes, even though it is hard to read sometimes. We all know that is a lot of bad things happening in the world, yet we pretend that it's not there to be able to sleep in peace and without fear. H.D. Carlton did a great work at combining unpleasant experiences and situations with psychologically messed up relationship. She got me as obsessed with the plot and the characters as Zade is obsessed with Addie...

I didn't think i would ever DNF a book but this is my exception. i read books to have fun and become lost in the words. this just made me feel horrible. i read a brief summary of the book but it doesn't compare to reading it for yourself. i do not recommend and after reading some especially harrowing scenes i needed to cry and hug my boyfriend. as someone who gets extremely invested into series and attaches themselves to the characters' world, i found myself in a dark place where i mistakenly thought i would find an enjoyable book.

Editors. Just. Get some, editors. There were so many terribly written sentences, horrible similes and metaphors, and cringe-worthy moments of dialogue that I had to highlight all of them just to make myself feel as though I wasn’t as crazy as fucking Sibby. Since I powered through book one, I felt duty-bound to read this one and finish the duology but god it was a Herculean effort. The plot of the story is still intriguing, although Adeline’s captivity goes on for a bit longer than I feel is truly necessary. I do love the characters, especially Jay and Sibby. Also, there are a few very sexy one-liners during the sex scenes but even those were made less intriguing and spice-filled because of the multitude of errors throughout.

This book has whole heartedly changed me.
I'm going to try write this review as in depth as I can without giving anything way, i'll get back to you when in done.
Spoilers?: yeah no you’re safe don’t worry.

Off the back of Haunting Adeline obviously H.D Carlton left us with our butts on the edge of our seats, our jaws on the floor and our hearts in our mouth.
Throughout haunting Adeline, I'm not sure about anyone else but I developed such an emotional connection to the characters Adeline and Zade, in the Hunting Adeline this connection and understanding is only deepened, thoroughly.

Hunting Adeline gets very sad, traumatic, heartbreaking and all round just deep as f**k, very fast.
Right from the first chapter seen from 'The Diamond' aka Adeline, we're thrown into the beginning of her soon to be raging PTSD. The events that Adeline both whiteness' and becomes a victim to truly pulls your heart out, H.D is very good at explaining these events and almost making you feel like you are truly experiencing it.

I said this in my review for Haunting Adeline and i'll say it again... this book is not for the faint hearted! However now I truly mean it, again without giving too much away, If you or anyone your close with have had experiences with g,rape, as brilliant as this book was, please don't read it if you have even the slightest suspicion that it could effect you, chances are it will.

The book does get more lighthearted (if thats even possible when speaking about H.D Carlton's work).

Pulling this to a close, while this book was still incredible, it did make me cry at times, it did make me feel physically unwell at times but it as also completely changed the way I view a lot of things.
I'd say this book is a real eye opener to the real world and the sort of things that can happen or do happen without our acknowledgement.

I loved this book so so so much and I hope other people also see it in the way I did.

If you've made it to the end of this review, thank you, and do send me a friend request as I love connecting with people that share the same interests.
