“Mom come get me I’m scared”

This book is an abomination, the first half was just barely tolerable. The second half was the worst thing I have ever laid my eyes upon. The .5 is for the very very few likable characters that didn’t get nearly enough time. I could literally talk about everything wrong with not only book two of this duet but book one as well for hours cuz wtf…

I read this and Haunting Adeline because i kept hearing how good it was. I was warned this book was DARK especially in the beginning. I read anyway, and now I'm wondering how messed up I am because I wasn't nearly as traumatized as I expected to be 😬 don't get me wrong, it's indeed very dark. I think I need a shrink tho 🙃

Not for the faint hearted - the book deals with some very serious topics than can be quite uncomfortable to read.

OKAY!
So, my review of the 1st book of this duology was all about how that part was not "a true" dark in terms of what my experiences with dark reads were.
Well, this book was truly truly dark. At least 1st half.
Hear me out: I truly believe most of the readers will find the 1st half extremely disturbing, and so did I! If you are into horrors, thrillers, mind-fracking, soul-breaking, and mentally crushing books, this was it. The last time I felt like this was when I read The Dark Duet by C.J. Roberts and that was more than 10 years ago. So, thread carefully! This is NOT the book for daisies (no shame to daisies).
Also, be aware that this book goes deep into the specifics of human trafficking. It's terrifying.
All characters are extremely flawed. The main ones are carrying a bunch of personality diagnoses - from sadism to masochism, a mix of sociopathy and psychopathy, and maybe even autism. I have a feeling like the author said: let's make them crazy as crazy they can be.

And this is a truly one-sick-read. It's not for the weak-minded. Please do not read it if you are not in the good head space. Do not read it if you have ANY triggers. Literally, don't read the book if you can't handle blood.

Unfortunately, 2nd part of the book went a bit down the hill, so it messed up with my overall experience, ergo me giving 4 stars. Mostly because I feel that the character development was not on point (Adelines mostly, Zade continuously played the sick f*ck he is).

You need to figure out your morals, and what you're okay living with. Not what you've been taught, but what you feel in your gut.
Heaven isn't a place you go to when you die, it's inside the person that's worth dying for.

READ ALL TRIGGER WARNINGS!!!

I loved the series, but the end was a little unrealistic for me, particularly
how she and Zade managed her trauma
