Sigh. I finally gave in, wanting to see what all the hype surrounding this book was about . . . and I don’t get it. I mean, I have zero issues with the laundry list of trigger warnings, dark content, or morally black characters—that’s not it. Part of it was that I didn’t feel like there was any kind of connection between the main characters. Like, not even by the end. But the biggest part—the thing that I just couldn’t get past—was

the fact that the MMC is supposed to be this vigilante hacker guy who is breaking up human sex trafficking rings and yet he is forcing himself on the FMC and sexually assaulting her.

Make it make sense. Will not be reading the second book in this duet.

This book made me feel so uncomfortable. The mmc comes off as narcissistic and justifies his actions toward Adeline with the fact that he busts sex traffickers. He is an absolute psychopathic hypocrite. No thanks.

Just like the first book of this series, I was hooked. The story line kept me engaged all the way through, though this one was significantly darker. There are definitely much harder topics and details that could be very hard and triggering to get through for some. With that said, I loved the fight Addie had in her to make it through and the determination Zade had to save her. I love a good morally gray character and Zade is 100% that! It's kind of insane how he can do so much good for the world while also doing some of the things he does to Addie. I can't wait to read the next novella and the prequel to the series to find out more about other characters. Highly recommend, but not for everyone and readers need to proceed with caution.

This book has me hooked! It has very dark themes, but sucks you in and won't let go! Definitely not for everyone, and people should for sure look into the warnings and take them seriously, but if you can make it through the rough parts, it is a great read that keeps you hanging on!!
