Goddamnit! I wasn’t expecting to fall in love with this series quite this fast, but here we are. This was so good! And I just want to reread it immediately.

I love Noah and Adam. For how fucked up this story was, they were so sweet together. I loved how Adam just kind of swept in and started taking care of Noah when his life started to implode in the worst way. And I loved how Noah in turn, was able to ground Adam whenever his temper flared towards the murderous side at inopportune times. I also loved that even though Adam is a psychopath he was willing to ask others for advice on how to help Noah when he didn’t have a clue. These two were so sweet together that I almost got cavities. I also really liked the (fucked up) family dynamics that the Mulvaney’s had. The sibling banter was top notch and the fact that all of Adam’s siblings gave (sort of) shovel-talks to Noah was priceless. And that Noah gave them back just as much shit/good natured teasing was so good!

This was the perfect start to a series that I’m already so invested in from one book. I love this family of psychopaths and I can’t wait to dive into the rest of the series! Unhinged is getting five out of five stars.

Well this was a surprise! I’m not usually a Dark Romance fan. Give me a big fluffy book bf, maybe some BDSM; this book was all that and super heavy, but wonderful. I’ll definitely be reading the rest of the series. It never felt like it was too much to handle.

I had seen comments about how Onley James has this magical ability to make heavy topics more palatable and morally questionable characters loveable. Those comment were 100% correct. Both MC’s were more than loveable and I was very invested in seeing them flourish together and I’m committed to the entire supporting cast of characters.

The subject matter of this book (rife with triggers and stomach churning topics) was still readable in a way I hadn’t imagined it could be.

me 🤝 obscenely traumatised main characters

Seriously though this book was balls to the walls insane. And incredibly sweet.

Okay, how could such a dark book have the sweetest romance? I ended up loving this! The hype is deserved. I will say that this won't be everyone's cup of tea and there's some pretty big CWs/TWs. I am intrigued by this family of psychopaths and can't wait to read the next one! Hopefully we get to see more of Adam and Noah in the next books because I love them!

I decided to read this book because it was recommended by two bookish friends of mine, so I honestly didn't read much of the description or know what to expect besides a psychopath main character and some spice. I was not prepared for the amount of spice or how quickly that spicy happened. By the second chapter, the two characters were making out, and then it only heated up from there, very quickly. I'm not one for insta love so this was unexpected especially compared to the other spicy books I have read where you get to know the characters first before things heat up. It's not a bad thing, I just was thrown by it because it's not what I usually look for. I was also not prepared for how rough the spice was or how dark the plot got. I was very conflicted by all of this. The spice was hot but rough which made me squirm a bit. The plot was good but very dark and uncomfortable. It is not for the faint of heart. This book definitely was putting my conscience to the test, because is this murderous psychopath really a villain for murdering horrible people? Yes? No? Should a murderous psychopath be this hot? No? Yes? I have no idea. RIP to my conscience.
Overall, even though everything took many turns I didn't expect, I really enjoyed this book and I will definitely be reading more of this series. I will be more prepared for the rest of the series now that I know what to expect and I'm looking forward to seeing the different brothers' POVs.

I would recommend checking this one out if you are prepared for a lot of rough spice and dark dark plot. This book is not for the faint of heart. But if you can handle it, it is good!

added the extra .25 rating for the ritual that adam and Noah have at the end of the book that I'm obsessed with haha.

WHAT I LIKED:

this book was pretty funny sometimes. it was giving dark comedy. the idea of a family of psychopath assassins is interesting. the actual plot, aside from the romance, was okay.

WHAT I DIDNT LIKE:

in a romance book, you kinda need to like the romance/couple to enjoy it. i didn’t.

tbh, insta-love is simply not for me. i found myself cringing every five minutes bc how can you say you love someone you’ve known for less than a week??? how can you already want to die for them?? how can you tell them all of your family secrets and how can that family just accept that?? and maybe i could’ve glossed over it if it wasn’t brought up every 5 chapters. sorry, but no. by the end, i was just skimming the romance/sex scenes bc i was more interested in the plot. lol.

AND ANOTHER THING:

why make them murdering vigilantes if we don’t get to see the killing ???? would a little action have killed you??? (no pun intended). SIGH.
