This was quite dark and not as much fun as I was hoping, but I think it's me rather than the book. I liked Mal and Hen, the third-act breakup was predictable but kept thankfully brief. I was just kind of bored.
Graphic: Child abuse, Homophobia, Panic attacks/disorders
Minor: Dementia

wow! what a great sequel and story. I had a feeling after seeing glimpses of Mal's struggles in book 1 that book 2 was going to deliver some delicious hurt/comfort, and I was not disappointed. What I truly enjoyed was how much Mal and Henrik helped one another. Mal's backstory was heartbreaking and difficult to read about, but his struggles with his panic disorder and PTSD were written so realistically and in a way that made you want to jump through the page so you could protect him. I adored that Henrik, a blind man, made Mal feel truly seen for the first time. I also adored how Mal didn't treat Henrik like he was helpless and wanted to badly to make Henrik happy. Their chemistry was palpable from their first interaction, and I fell in love with their relationship. I did think the "conflict" toward the end was predictable, but was happy it quickly resolved. The secondary characters continue to be a delightful part of the series. We saw a little tease as to what we should expect next from Alex's story, and I cannot wait to read what is in store for our beloved Tink.
I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.

Wow another amazing Emmy Sanders book!
I love the found family at Elite 8 and knew Malibu's story would be emotional. He overcame a lot in this book. Both MMCs were not looking for love and that made it so much sweeter. I loved the disability rep with Henrik and his blindness. I cannot speak to the accuracy on this but reading his POV was so smart as nothing seemed to be visual descriptions. Just stellar writing!
I am excited to switch back to Plum Valley for Swan Hearts and then back here for Tink!
