Ate this book up this was such a good sports romance I want some more of TK and poppy
These two are my favorite couple so far (haven't read 4th). Some parts of this are a stretch given social media but overall I liked it. Good for the author for addressing football and CTE - it's a serious issue.

This story drops you right into the middle of a story. It’s so well written that doesn’t even matter.
It’s a second chance romance. An unplanned pregnancy, a lying mother, and a clueless man = a perfect storm. 9 years later they crash into one another.
Ace was adorable. I loved his enthusiasm and how he took in his new circumstances with grace. Clearly his mom has been raising him right.
I loved that TK and Poppy were able to work through their past issues. I also really appreciated that it wasn’t happily ever after. Poppy stands up for herself and shows that sometimes you have to break your own heart to stand up for what you believe.

3 stars. Martin has definitely improved in her writing since book one and thank God she dropped the cringy hashtags. And while I absolutely loved the heroine, Poppy, the hero, TK, was not it for me. He was an asshole with a capital ass. There were hints as to why he was the way that he was but it gets revealed way too late and I still don’t think it justified anything that he had done. Therefore the romance didn’t work for me unfortunately because I spent half the time wanting to push him off of a cliff.
But, like I said Poppy was awesome and she makes this book. She’s so likable. She’s witty and loving but definitely knows how to hold her own. And her son, Ace, was adorable and I loved their bond. It was super cute.
I appreciate that there was no big dramatic third act blow out breakup between Poppy and TK and that they handled everything like adults. That was refreshing. I really did want to like their relationship but the way he would act and respond to things made that impossible for me. It was still a fun read because the heroine is so charming but as a romance it misses the mark.

I enjoyed this even less than the first book. The relationship just really rubbed me the wrong way.

I have had enough with allo cishet woman falling in love and settling for violent trash man. The man can a violent asshole to her in every chapters and she'll still forgives him because of... love?? I gues???
Poppy believed that TK abandoned her after impregnating her yet she easily let him into her life again? He insulted her, called her a gold digger and be violent to her yet she easily forgave him? For what? Because she's an adult?? Be fucking serious...
I honestly don't care about the romance after that. Nothing irritated me more than female lead always being accomodating to the male lead but the male lead only doing the bare minimum. One of the reason why I dislike Mariana Zapata romance is because of this exact thing always happened in her books (also her shitty writing and that she clearly needs an editor).
I read this book for a reading challenge but I also want to try reading a book with the 'secret baby' trope. This prove that I hate it.
