Fumbled

I enjoyed the exploration of the dangers of football for the players, however I didn't enjoy some of the actions that TK took and how Poppy responded to them.

Holy Moley!! This book was so so good!! I'm usually not a huge fan of the "surprise baby trope", but this book hit the nail directly on the head!

Poppy is so spunky and strong. Even though she has had a rough time in life, she is still strong and knows her worth. She was doing her best, and when TK came barging back into her life, she didn’t back down.

I loved how strong Poppy was, and I also loved how sweet TK was. Especially around her and Ace. Poppy and TK did have their share of troubles to get through, but I absolutely loved how they were able to find each other again!

I'm bingeing this series, because why not? The Superbowl was lackluster at best this year. Reading this series is a more than pleasant way to feel the football fandom pre-pandemic. I thought Intercepted was hilarious and diverting. Fumbled is a different kind of enjoyment.
Secret Baby is maybe my least favorite trope next to Secret Billionaire. Will I still read it? That's a big fat yes. I think that Alexa handled it really well. I love that the standard angsty hurt was mild and dealt with quickly. Plus TK is a dreamboat and Poppy is protective and sassy and my new motherhood role model.
Alexa's writing style is just what I like. She balances the heavy topics with a lot of light hearted moments and the supporting cast is fantastic. I didn't love this narrator after adoring Intercepted's but the plot/trope change needed a more serious tone.

I’m in love with series.

Alexa Martin doesn’t shy away from the dark side of football, she tackles the complex problems around the issues well professionals have around relationships and the dangers of playing such physical game all while sending us on a drama filled-rollercoaster love story.

I’m so happy I stumbled upon Alexa and this series.

I fed into the media hype and ended up liking this, but the CW warnings were rougher than I imagined thinking about just a sweet football story, but loved Piper the main character.

This was a little painful. It moved too fast, the dialogue was cringe, and every conflict was resolved too quickly.

Also, that a character throws glitter everywhere as a personality trait...really? How would that ever be tolerated in the real world lol

There were a lot of pleasant surprises in this book that forced me to rethink some of my preconceived notions about romance novels and character development over and over. That being said, there were still some loose ends that I felt weren't tied with characters that drifted into the story (TK's Mom, Poppy's family, How Brynn knew TK so well, Maxwell??) Overall, it was still an engaging read, once the story got moving.

Another touchdown of a book with a safety on top of book one. It had the all you want from a second chance sports romance along with, great kid, one badass single mom, one horrible bar and one amazing bar, and hot as all hell football player along with all the catty players wives and girlfriends.

Martin's writing got even better, it was smoother and the flow was great. These characters were very strong and developed. Some of the side characters from book one also got better.

Overall, I give this 4 stars and 3.5 steam.
