I have to admit, this book took some time to grew on me. The beginning felt very slow, but then the plot added up and I couldn't put it down.
Very excited for part 2 of this series.

I really enjoyed this book. It is a very dark and intense read but it was captivating and all-encompassing. The audiobook was wonderful and I really have no complaints about the reading or the pacing (although I sped through it at 1.5 or 1.75 speed because I wanted more of the plot so some moments may be slow reading traditionally or normal speed audiobook). I recommend reading the trigger warnings for the novel just to make sure you are in a safe place when sitting down to read.

I noted the diversity as "it's complicated" because of a lack of the diversity of the characters being at the forefront of this story. I didn't even realize our police character was POC until halfway through the book and the culture of Alex wasn't on display at all.

My favorite part of the book was when we still had the dual timeline and I wish we had gotten more of Darling's POV throughout the book even if it was always a prior timeline, it could've been sprinkled in more.

I am used to read Leigh Bardugos YA, so this is a switch being her first Adult Fantasy book.
This is A LOT darker than i thought it would be. But not surprising really.
I found it hard to keep hold of what was going on. Although I liked Alex, and i was intrqued by her past and what makes her tick.
I found the constant time jumping very difficult to follow. And the constant world building hard to grasp.
The plot would just be getting going, and then you switch to something else. Constantly adding more layers, so that it would ditract you from the original plot.
I like the premis of this book but it felt too much. The mytholodgy was sound, but there was so much of it, the charecters and story got lost.
There were about 3 ending in this book. Personally i could have had less building and more charecter.
I can see what the Author was going for, I think maybe I wasn't the right reader for it.
It's not a bad book, just complicatedAnd many trigger warnings.
