Wow. Just, wow. I loved this book.

First of all, living Caraval through Tella's eyes is so much fun, since she's adventurous and she gets herself into a whole lot of trouble right away. I like my MCs a little reckless. But it turns out she's also really smart and actually has a plan and a reason for doing things.

The game of Caraval was magic once again. Set in a new city and with a whole new game to play, it's just so much fun to read and think of all sorts of theories when Tella gets her clues.

Then this book just filled in the blanks that Caraval did not. All of a sudden it becomes a full picture with details and depth, rather than just a series of events. In my opnion this means the writing has evolved into a much richer story.

And then the men, oh the men. All are dangerous in their own way, but you also have to love them. Even the biggest villain gets his likable moments, becoming the guy you love to hate.

Now I have to wait a whole year for Finale. So maybe some hopes:
- the story from Tella's POV
- the story from Legend's POV (that would be REALLY interesting)
- Scarlett becoming a little more daring
- Tella getting to be with the man she loves or
- an end to the love story that is beautifully painful
- another game of Caraval (any excuse, however flimsy)
Spoiler - the Prince of Hearts returning and more on the fact that Tella is his one true love. How is that going to play out?!
- more Fates! They are unleashed now, so... bring on their worst!
- Tella and Scarlett being reunited with their mother and their mother having a really good reason for leaving them and for everything else she did
- Legend turning into a good guy after all. Even if that ultimately destroys him.

So... if you loved Caraval, read this asap, if you didn't like Caraval, suffer through it and read this anyway.

This was fun!! I liked seeing more of Tella but i didn’t quite enjoy this as much as I did Caraval. If Finale has them doing another game of Caraval I don’t think i’ll enjoy it as much as the first book either but either way I can’t wait to read Finale and see what happens between Legend/Dante and Tella

I was a bit hesitant because this one is from Tellas POV, and I did not like Tella at all. Until I finished this book. She’s clever, wild and witty. It was nice getting to know her. The mood in this book was once again immaculate. Dark, sweet and mysterious.

I really loved reading this from Tella’s point of view! I now see why Scarlett loves her sister so much, she is such a badass. I am excited to see Tella and Legends story continue but I am more excited to see the sisters continue to grow and hopefully they can work together in the last book.
