tbh i didn't enjoy this as much as i thought i would. dante is great, love him, adore him—it's the same with julian and to a lesser extent, jacks. but this book is solely in tella’s POV and it got tiring.
the first book i rated 4 stars because of how it ended, but looking back, it's lowkey the same with scarlett's POV, and i struggled to really connect with the characters. i understand the author wanted to maintain an air of mystery, but for me, it became boring. i wasn't entirely rooting for anyone, like the romance was good but very sparse in the grand scheme of things, and the sisters were just okay?? the fact that tella is 16 blew my mind, why did i think she was older?? a lot of things make sense now...
i can't really find the words to express my emotions rn, but basically the second book is very predictable while the first one was just insane. i didn’t know anything when i started caraval so there was an excitement there, but in legendary those same elements felt repetitive and uninteresting, and i'm a little disappointed.
speaking of disappointment—scarlett. i have never felt so disheartened with a female character before. i’m being very dramatic but scarlett really threw me off! men let me down all the time, so i wasn’t expecting this 🙈 though she definitely knows how to play the game now, so there’s that.
hopefully the third book will be better! the povs will be split between tella and scarlett, so this problem should at least be solved! i'm also a romance girly, so i'm manifesting a greater love story for both sisters pls 🙏
