Still enjoying this series - Miss Charlotte Holmes, and her many friends and enemies, have me captivated.

Every book in this series makes me love Lord Ingram even more. A man who knows the way to a woman’s heart is through fabulously delicious food, believes a woman can be independent and as smart as a man (before we even had any rights of our own), believes in love despite his upbringing trying to prove it’s inexistent. Swoon.

Lady Holmes is pretty spectacular too

I love a lot of things about this entire series, but the thing I love the most is the representation of ASD. While Charlotte is an obvious representation of ASD, her oldest sister is as well - but in a way that is usually shied away from in books and film. As a human who deeply loves another human who is more a Bernadine than a Charlotte, it is wonderful to see Bernadine continue to show up in these books and to see the unconditional love and care that Charlotte shows for her.

I listened to the audio for this installment, and unfortunately had trouble keeping track of all the characters and who was doing what for quite a while. About halfway through, I was able to get it all straight and enjoy the mystery. I feel back on track and ready for book 4. :)

This series is bada**. Charlotte Holmes is so cool and liberated and I just love the magnetism her brand of weird creates for those around her. This installment was particularly fun to read because of the work Holmes is doing behind the scenes that the reader finds out about in a rush at the end. So well written and unputdownable. This is my favorite mystery series that I've read in 2020.
