A review from goodreads sums this pretty much up: 3,5* - this was so great up until the "showdown" happened. Realistic characters and relationships, a compelling writing style and a great message. But ugh the ending was so over dramatic and unrealistic.. It kinda ruined the book for me tbh.

A fantastic read. Even better than [b:Solitaire|20618110|Solitaire|Alice Oseman|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1390416741s/20618110.jpg|39901420]. I think it's an important book for teens just figuring out what to do with their lives and who are perhaps feeling quite disconnected from education, and feel it's their only option.

A great book with a distinct, realistic narrative that will help a lot of teens, I feel. It's a book I wish I had read when I was younger.

I received this free from the publishers via NetGalley

Frances has always worked towards one goal - to get into Cambridge. She's a study machine, the Head Girl, but she has a secret hobby - she draws fan art for her favourite podcast. Universe City. When she finds out who is the genius behind the podcast she finds new freedom and a new friendship where she doesn't need to put on a facade, she can be completely herself. However, Universe City and The Creater is a mystery to the online world and when the online mystery and the real world collide the fragile trust between Aled and Frances comes under strain.

I think Radio Silence is an important read for teenagers about to decide what to do after school. It carries some really important messages about education and the pressure put on student to get into a great university and be academically gifted. Radio Silence shows that there are other choices, it shows that you can be successful without that degree, it shows that creativity is also important. At the core of this book, the message is that you do what makes you happy and I think that is a really great message. It is also an incredibly realistic book that you know is written by one of our own generation, and Alice Oseman doesn't belittle the topic and the stress and emotional and mental strain that academia puts on teenagers these days.

I thought the characters were an exception bunch who worked really well together. Aled and Frances had a really great friendship full of witty banter and it flowed really naturally. But Alice Oseman also managed to translate that awkwardness through really well as well. I feel like a lot of people will really connect with both Aled and Frances - I did. There were some really great character development with Frances as she finally learns to show her true self, and I liked how subtle and gradual it was. Aled Last was a fantastic character, really complex and there were some really great messages coming through this novel.

Overall, a very realistic and genuinely refreshing book that I think everyone should read.

I’ve tried to start this book maybe ten times and it hasn’t stuck until now. Very Alice, very angsty, very good. My favorite part was the sweet summer friendship before everything blew up.

I’ve just finished this book and i cannot put into words how beautiful it felt to have a character like Frances in it. I think she’s my favorite character and i can relate to her in so many ways and i found it beautiful how she started being more like herself when she became friends with Aled. Aled my beloved, i want to put you in my pocket and never let anyone harm you in any way <3
Also, i think education it’s important but not everything in life and i loved how Alice showed us through a book that you can do great outside of school and the way to go is by doing the things that you love.
I think it’s the best book i’ve read in 2022 and i would 10000% recommend it!

I feel wrung out. This is like a little time capsule. It feels like a Tumblr fever dream. If I had read this before college, I would be a different person. As it is, it feels like I worked emotional muscles I didn't know I had. Carys. Aled. This went by deceptively quickly. So thankful for the happy ending.

Sensitive, raw and true to the marrow. This book talks about Aled and Frances, who both liked the same podcast genre and become best friends, for reasons that are stronger than themselves. But unfortunately Aled is at a huge crossroads.

This book talks about things I was not expecting, from romance, from friendship to family problems, which are often passed over the warmth of these situations. It is a complicated book to read mainly because of the way Frances deals with the whole situation around her and Aled. This book portrays in a beautiful, strong and super emotional way that a true friendship can help the person we love the most or can ruin life.

It touch me in a way, that I'm so happy that I have my friends!
