I have no idea what rating to give this book. On the one hand, I wound up pausing on it for long stretches and it's ridiculously convoluted & complicated; on the other, all that convolution made for some really interesting connections. Still, I think the main feelings I'm left with a few hours after finishing are anger and frustration. Like, this could have been distilled down to a few of the essential things to make interesting connections and not become so unreasonably complicated. The connections were interesting, satisfying, and fit with the setup, but it still doesn't make up for my feelings about how exhausting the setup was. If I'd enjoyed it more, I'd read it again to pick up more of the many, many connections between characters, timelines, and identities. And I wish I'd enjoyed it more - I can't even identify why I didn't connect with the characters, world, or events, as they seem to have the elements that generally make those work, but I just... wasn't that invested or interested.

This book, man...
I can't say too much of what I think of this book without getting into spoilers territory, but this may be my favorite book of the year so far, something impressive considering I think the previous books of the series are pretty good but not amazing.
This book was huge, both in length and what it needed to accomplish, and I'm so so happy it delivered.
The whole plot of the series is perfectly wrapped up with very exciting and emotional scenes that still manage to surprise with many twists and turns.
While there are some plot-holes (which Islington has stated will be explored in a future book) I'm just amazed at how plot and characters are fused, creating what I would say, without a doubt, is 'peak fantasy'.
I've read pretty great books this year, but The Light of All That Falls really made an impact on me.

Hands down the best ending to a series I have ever read (except WoT)

The ending was ... they got me. I didn't want to be impressed but James got me.
It was a FKN journey, but I fear it was worth it. I'm excited to read this trilogy again someday.

I loved this book, sad that there's no more to read now I'm done with the series.
Definitely the best of the three for me, I liked following the different characters and Caeden really grew on me as his parts were some of my least favourite in the early books but I was so invested in his character arc here.
Ashalia continues to be amazing, no notes, I just love her.
Wirr is great too, seeing him learn how to do politics throughout the book and what is legal vs right shows growth and he's great too.
Davian doesn't grow as much but he ready had so much in the earlier books I'm not complaining. I just wanted to see his journey and follow along and I was constantly wanting to know what would happen.
Read this book in a few long sessions as it is so hard to put down, but so long you can't binge it if you want. It definitely needed to be that long though, I wouldn't have wanted anything taken away from it.
The series as a whole is a great one, I hope we get the companion novel that was missing from this book as I'd love to go back into this world again.
There is a lot to take in with all the books, so I'm sure one day I'll do a full reread, may leave it a while though. Few extra spoiler thoughts below, but loved this book and the series - fingers crossed for maybe a movie deal some day?
I'm so glad Davian didn't have to die, after the shapeshifting bit I was wondering if someone could do it and he did and I'm so happy for it. Caeden dying makes so much more sense thematic wise too.
So wanted to note Wirr leading the battle and almost everyone dying was so hard to read, so few people made it, he's basically the only survivor and it showed so much courage from Wirr, wanted to shout out that bit.
I wish we had more character stuff from Asha, the d'yoken bit was good but mostly just her training. She might be my favourite, though her arc seemed more from the other books.
I did like how this book ended with the three of them together, just as the first book started. They've barely been together at all throughout the story and it's nice to have them back together again, it felt like a full circle and I love that kind of thing.
