This was fucking solid! I’m really loving how this story is going, there are so many storylines and they’re all rock solid. The character development is phenomenal.

COWBOYS AND SAGA BE STILL MY LONESOME HEART!

No but actually I love how saga writes stories around real world issues in such a high sci-fi world. The trans and queer characters and the issue of abortion is explored just as much as war and violence. Which is more than can be said about other high sci-fi or fantasy stories.

I’ve been watching a lot of Game of Thrones lately (catching my dad up before the final season) and I was reminded how horrible that story is to women and queer people. I think saga is so worthy of an amazing tv show made about it, I hope one day that comes to fruition. But for now, I will always love this comic!

It was a decent read, but not my favorite in the series. No one of importance died in this one, which I’m shocked. At the very end we get to see where the reporters are and I almost completely forgot they were even a part of the story at all.

Book 📖: 4.5/5 stars

This and the last volume were so good. It hit this emotional spot that pulled at my heart. I think the story is finally finding its pace again. Main characters are hitting their stride and the themes are depicted really well in each volume. Hoping they keep up the momentum.

At the end of Vol. 7 Alana suffered a miscarriage as a result of a bad fall when they were escaping from Phang. Vol. 8 is mostly spent dealing with the ramifications. The dead fetus inside of her is allowing Alana to use magic the way Markos and Hazel does, but it's also killing her. It's a slower volume than some of the others. The manifestation of their son as he could have been was very sweet and sad; a way to show the grief and loss the family is sharing.

Outside of the pair and their motley crew (Petrichor and the robot prince everyone is super pissed off with at the moment) the war continues. There's basically confirmation that Wreath and Landfall governments are - on the highest level only - working to keep the war going. I am assuming for profit and power.

The Will is currently being tortured by someone whose loved one he killed - I think when he rescuing Sophie back in the first couple of volumes.

There is a reunion at the end, but there was not a lot of momentum in this one. Mostly it felt like a filler volume, slowly setting up the pieces for the next step. At this point I can only assume it is going to include mass exposure of Markos, Alana, and Hazel, with ramifications for the war as a whole.

I'm just Vaughan's puppy. He let's the craziest things happen that I would never have seen coming and I'm just trash for it all. This was... Just great. This series is just incredible. Idk how it's so good.

this one felt a lot like just filler content. it had a happy ending for some reason? and nothing happened to Alana like it was hinted throughout the whole volume?
I’m sad. I hope the next one is better.
