First of all, gay mermaids... now that that's been said 😂, this is very promising start to a story about two mermaid boys falling in love. The blurb sounded really great and I'm happy to say that the actual story hasn't disappointed me so far. Despite not being packed with action and only showing us the basics of the mer world (the prophecies, different species of mer folks, how do they live ect.) there was still enough plot for it to be interesting enough ✨.
.
I hope that in the next books we'll get to know both of the boys little bit more because I feel like right now I'm closer to Siren than to Kappa (the main character)... Not that I don't like him, but I feel kinda indifferent about him.
.
Last but not least... The graphic side of graphic novels does a lot for the story... and this one was very nicely done. I love the color scheme! ❤️
Well this was a lovely story. The illustrations are beautiful and it was a great start to an ongoing story I'll be happy to follow. I'm not sure how purposeful the allegory is with real-life politics etc but I was into the framing of the story and world building. Also, queer mer-creatures? That's an easy sell! I'd pick this up in print for my kids and I look forward to the next installment.

Coming back to this story after a number of years, it still managed to bring me the same comfort it did back then!
I’ll share my full thoughts on Volume One of Castle Swimmer closer to the release date!!
This was the sweetest piece of fluff ever to fluff.
Castle Swimmer is about Kappa, a young mer who is the central part of numerous prophecies that cast him as a hero or a saviour - even when he doesn't know why or what he is supposed to be doing - and he is resigned to it.
Until of course, he is pulled into a prophecy that demands his death for the safety of a race. And his executioner, Siren, is the first to question "What if you lived for yourself?".
Beautiful artwork, soft characters, overwhelming feelings and storyline that just keeps you wanting more. I cannot believe how quickly I was pulled into this and I'm so so impatiently, eagerly waiting for Volume 2!!

Stunning illustrations. Impeccable characterization. Immersive writing. BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN ROMANCE.
I enjoyed every second of my reading experience.

I just wanted to say... I forgive you. I know you can’t bare to ask me, but I’ll never blame you for any of this. It’s okay if you can’t break the curse. You’re still my prince. I’ll still love you even if you can’t save me.
Les juro que esta lectura fue de lo más bella e interesante
Three words: Merboys in love. This was SUPER cute and also interesting plot-wise (I even cried). I binge read the entire thing in two hours. I hope that it'll get published in the future. One of my favourite webcomics!
