Thanks to NetGalley for access. Overall it’s a cute YA story about young mermen feeling the burden of prophecies, family expectations, and little control over their own lives. While I’ve only read this first volume, it’s an interesting underwater world with a budding romance on the horizon. Sweet start to a story, but probably not something I’ll continue.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is an absolutely beautiful story with stunning illustrations and a cast of the most interesting, complex characters. This is a tale of love of all kinds; chosen family, self-love, romantic love and more. If you enjoy underwater fantasy with a dash of humour and love, this graphic novel is definitely for you.

Having returned to this series from reading on Webtoons brought back some nostalgia. I love the characters and art work. The concept is very sweet and the plot through simple, is a good story. I can't wait to read the next one.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Clarkson Potter/Ten Speed Press for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

I really enjoyed this! After seeing a couple rave reviews on goodreads from friends, this went from a maybe to must read for me and I was thrilled to be approved for an ARC from NetGalley.

I really like the premise of two characters connected by opposing roles in a prophecy who both bond because of it and struggle with it. We got to see some personality and sweetness between them and their shared experiences of being othered and saddled with intense expectations due to this prophecy.
It feels like it’s going an interesting direction with free will and destiny and obligations to self and others, and I’m really looking forward to the next volume.

I wish more happened in this first volume, but we’ve been set up with a solid cliffhanger and I’ve got a feeling I might enjoy future volumes even more as the adventure really gets rolling.

Definitely recommend, a great graphic novel that is volume 1 in a longer series to be published in the future.
