This didn't work for me. I found the stories all pretty bland and anonymous, with no real standouts. Very well could be due to the translation but the way each story was first-person narrated just added to the anonymity which made it hard to connect with, at least for me. I also was expecting darker and more disturbing but really these were mainly slice of life tales about very little: going to a bakery, a trip to the zoo, working at a hospital. Some had macabre twists, some didn't, and I guess these stories highlighted the darkness that can be present in the mundane, but I was mostly bored. A quick read at least!

Curious read, even if I did mostly get distracted by what connected each other stories, rather than the stories themselves.

This book was a wild ride. I have so many questions still and I am dying to talk about this. I think I lost track of the connections in the stories - some were obvious and others, less so. Maybe re-reading it will help me connect the dots better. Overall, I really did enjoy the experience of reading this and it is going to stick with me, I just know it.
