I don't have words for how this book made me feel. All I can say is this book is a masterpiece. It's one of those books that will change you for the better and leave you overcome with joy and hope. Please give this book the chance to change your life, the way it did mine.

So cutie. Linus is endearing from the get go. I relate to him more in his lonely corporate stage... ("If one were to ask if Linus Baker was lonely, he would have scrunched up his face in surprise. The thought would be foreign, almost shocking. And thought the smallest of lies hurt his head and made his stomach twist, there was a chance he would still say no, even though he was, and almost desperately so.")

..but his growth is so sweet to watch. He grows into himself by doing nothing but being his authentic, earnest self ("This is how I've always been. It's not much, but I do the best I can with what I have"). He ultimately found meaning in life through activism and community :)

Each character has something to teach us ("'But I can have spiders in my head as long as I don't let them consume me and destroy the world as we know it'")

And finally, I wanna quit my job and live here!!!

P.S. It took me forever to read. the pace in the middle section was a little too slow to fully grab my attention for some reason. I will be reading the sequel though!!

"'But before they grow, their roots can lay dormant for decades, waiting until the conditions are right. It simply takes time.'"

"'Funny how that works out, isn't it? That we can find the most unexpected things when we aren't even looking for them.'
He could only nod.'"

Reading this book is like being wrapped in a warm and cozy blanket. It is chalk full of the warm and fuzzies and it is impossible to read without a smile.

At the start of the book, we meet the book's main protagonist, Linus Baker, who's life is a little drab and very rainy (quite literally it always seems to be raining). Luckily for him, and for the readers, his life is soon shaken up with a mysterious assignment to a house on a cerulean sea. There you will meet some very unique children who will teach you a little something about the wonders of being different and living life boldly and outside the lines.

As one can probably guess from the description, this book is at times insanely cheesy. Although you might find yourself smirking at the reminders to "be yourself" and "change starts with a few", the book's cheese is a huge part of it's enduring charm that will leave you grinning till the last page. Enjoy reading! It is an absolute pleasure and delight.
