Really enjoyed it, super fun and wacky plot twists. My one qualm is with Claudia, the adult/child-in-an-adult's-body was really weird and uncomfortable to read. A little Steven King-y in the description of children so be warned.

I didn't feel that there was much character development overall, only in the final pages, and so it was hard to empathise with the characters, or feel that much was happening for them. Louis in particular was so morose, but maybe that was the point; the book dragging along with no real satisfaction to be had by the end. As readers are we being shown his experience of existence?

I made it through part one (barely) and this book is so slow and drawling that it doesn’t even hold my interest in any degree

Pacing of the story felt slow and the characters were lifeless, or in Louis' case lifeless and obnoxious.

Agh… the humanity!!!

The book that made me truly fall in love with vampire fiction. It has its flaws and the narration can be dreary at times but on the whole it's exquisitely written and a spectacular page turner.
