i made the mistake of watching the show before reading the book, which lead to me comparing it to the show the entire time i was reading. i really enjoyed prose, but it was always in the back of my mind how much better i like the show. the book just feels sort of... incomplete? stale? while compared to the show, at least. on its own its wonderful, and i understand how the book got so popular. i'll still be reading the rest of the series, despite my qualms.
