A solid regency romance, smutty and silly, no substance or historical accuracy but lots and lots of fun

Ooh, boy. What a mess. I was really enjoying a very lighthearted and rather fun story with two characters who had great chemistry right up until I suddenly wasn't.
Spoilers behind the cut due to potential triggers.
How Daphne, who is made out to be so knowledgeable of 'crass' things due to having three older brothers, and who has enough siblings both older and much younger, to HAVE to have some idea of how babies come into this world, suddenly becomes more naive than even the most sheltered virginal virgin in regards how sex and procreation work is beyond me. The conversation she has with her mother, who is also previously a rather straightforward character, before her wedding night was eye-rollingly bad. How these two women both suddenly became so repressed and unable to have a straightforward conversation makes zero sense.
Then, once Daphne figures out exactly what a man's seed can do, she proceeds to take advantage of (re: rape) her very drunk husband (who himself has gone from being rather charming to a complete, overly possessive ass by this point) in order to baby trap him because she desperately wants a child and feels lied to and betrayed by a dude who has been 100% up front with her from the beginning that he didn't want kids.
Then I just felt gross for having read it.

I’m actually quite sad about this review because I really enjoyed the first ~60% and until *that* scene I would’ve easily given this book 3,5 - 4 stars
But that chapter (and anyone’s who’s seen the show or read this book will know what I’m talking about) gave me the biggest ick and I can’t ignore it
I already didn’t like it when I watched the show but still wanted to give this book a chance because I enjoyed the rest. But I thought it was so much worse in this book and it made me feel so disgusted and shitty. It honestly just went downhill from there
I think I will probably read the other books because I’m very interested in them and I like season 2 of the show more than season 1 so I think I will enjoy the other books (as long as there’s no sexual assault in those 🙃)
