This was painfully and frustratingly very slow burn. I get why its like that but the chapters were kinda repetitive with the push and pull. And i very much understand why Gideon was angry and fet betrayal because he was betrayed by his bestfriend and his only love. The main premise is the secret that caused their friendship to end but it couldve been solved and avoided if they were honest with each other. I mean why did silas want to chase him and waited 3 years to finally convince his wife to reveal the secret. The plot was only lengthened by this alone so it was really frustrating i wanted to scream. And then when it was finally revealed, it was literally anticlimactic 🙂. The character took a 180 change and all is good between them. Not really impressed with this one. I didnt feel healed after this. And wasnt really interested in the religious repression thing.

Great read and for me it was close to a 5 star. I loved the pining and the angst. I thought the way the relationships were developed was really engaging to follow a d I could not put it down. What held me back from absolutely loving this book was the same problem every Rathe book had, too much kid content. I skipped all the parts with the Addie, they were boring to read, too numerous and too long. I am not reading a book like this to have chapters of toddler time. The other thing is the perfect ending she had, loved it until the cliched epilogue. It's like this author can only write one kind of ending.

PS. Ms Author, just so you know, getting into the playoffs is a really big fucking deal. 2 Star players would never "take time off" because they had a kid. Saying good luck in the playoffs... nope. Would not fly in the NHL, it read ridiculous

Forbidden Goals 4evvvaaa babyyy!

Conclusion: if Rebecca Rathe writes it, I WILL devour it and LOVE it.

There are no wrong answers in the Forbidden Goals Series. None. They are perfection.

I don’t know how RR keeps writing the most lovable yet, I-want-to-shake-the-sense-into-you-dudes. The whole time I kept wanting to scream that Silas is everyone’s secret keepers. My heart just pulled towards him and his love for both siblings. He couldn’t and wouldn’t hurt them more than he, unintentionally, had.

Then I would want to scream that Gideon is hurt and the family displays of love were the wrecking ball to his already shredded heart.

Soooo.. yea.

Silas and Gideon really gave me a run for my money at being the best one in this series. I officially can not and will never choose.
