There are so many things I loved about this book. One that stands out in my mind is family. There is no one way to make a family. This book proves that those who stand by you may be blood family but others members are found along the way.

This book does have religious trauma, so if that is a trigger for you, please be mindful. The main characters come from a very religious family background. Dare I say cult? There were so many times that I felt myself tearing up because both mmcs struggled with their own sexualities.

Something I really continue to love about Rathe's books is that her characters feel so very real. They could be real people walking the streets. Their stories feel so real that you are rooting for them. You want every couple to find the love that they deserve and it was no different for Gideon and Silas. I wanted them to find their happy ending even if it was a struggle.

Second chance romance is one of my favorite troupes and this one was full of angst. This story had me wanting to scream at times and throw the book. However, that is what makes second chance so beautiful. Once they come together again, it's powerful. It means so much more and you find yourself just enjoying those precious moments they have together.

As for the spice, let's just say there is a scene in the woods that had me wide eyed and wanting to hide behind a tree to watch some more.

If you want a second chance hockey romance with SO much heart. Then I definitely recommend this one.

I don't even know where to start for a coherent review without giving away too much and spoiling this incredible book.

There was so much pain. Pain that could have been solved with a little better communication all those years, but I understand why it wasn't talked about then. With that being said, the things Silas did made me love him even more.

Silas and Gideon have years of pain and turmoil, as well as some other trauma, they have to try to get past and it is not an easy thing to do, especially for Gideon. Gideon has held on to hate for so many years that he takes it out on Silas immediately and whenever he could.

I was holding my breathe whenever they were in the same place, anticipating which direction their reactions would go. When the truths were revealed and things began to shift for Silas and Gideon, you could sense the amount of relief for both of them but especially Silas.

The spice, whew the spice was HOT, there were times that it made me blush but also giddy with excitement for them that they finally get to have these moments together.

Those epilogues, absolute perfection 🫠

Rebecca is one of my all time favourite authors and this series has really earned its place as a staple within the mm romance community. I was so excited when I discovered that this was an ice hockey romance and it truly exceeded all my expectations.

There is a LOT going on in the book and the angst was angsting. We get second chance, betrayal, religious trauma AND hockey drama. To say it was a wild ride would be putting it mildly πŸ˜‚

What really makes this for me is just how amazing Gideon and Silas are together. Seeing these two reconcile and get there (very hard-won) HEA was just the best.

I can’t wait for the next book ❀️

This is a beautiful story that is born in the depths of darkness.  The depth of this story and the emotional walk these characters was an experience. I love how Rebecca Rathe did not shy away from the details for the good and for the bad. There is an important message not so buried in these words.
I love that Silas and Gideon not only found their way through what they had endured but they fought to get their happiness. The way they see something bigger out there gives me so much hope for something better.

Heroes: Silas and Gideon

It's hard to really say much about this book without giving away spoilers and I really don't want to do that. I highly suggest going into this as blind as possible. There are so many secrets and layers that have a big impact on the characters and their emotions and actions.
I started it and could not stop reading it. Gideon and Silas completely stole my heart.
They grew up together along with Gideon's sister in a very small and religious town.
The book takes place years later. Not everything is as it seems and not everything that happened should be taken at face value.
The emotions are so intense right from the start. You see how much these two are struggling just being near one another. Gideon truly does lean heavily into his anger and hurt when it comes to Silas.
And the spice...it's always so good in Rebecca's books and this one is no different. It's so so good.

I finished this days ago and I haven't been able to stop thinking about these guys or their story and romance. It's a fantastic addition to the series and one of my absolute favorites within it.

Wow, was this an emotional read. Silas is literally the best man to ever exist. His strength, conviction & care he has throughout is so freaking admirable. Gideon is so very broken but watching him grow throughout & realize he can be loved and love who he wants was so beautiful.

The religious trauma hit me hard. I honestly wasn’t expecting to be as affected. Lily’s quiet strength and resolve to overcome what she has been taught as a woman was so empowering. Every moment of rebellion I was fist pumping for her. Watching her raise Addy with Si & Gideon outside of the religion, letting Addy be a kid, was so freaking sweet. Every family interaction with Si, Gideon and even their teammates had me teary eyed from the pure happiness radiating from them.

The hockey element in this book was really well done. I haven’t read many sports romances that focus on the AHL. It was nice to read that side of things instead of the NHL. Overall, a great addition to the Forbidden Goals series.

I know I always say this, but its always true, I think I found my new favorite couple in this series! I love these guys so much. I was crying as I finished it, because I was just so happy for the men.

It blows me away how Rebecca can write such amazing characters that have so much depth that they honestly feel real. I swear I could look up hockey players, and these men's pictures would show up.

This story was done so beautifully with so much emotion, trauma, and a sense of pride that their story will live rent-free in my mind for a long time, that's for sure!

Silas:  is such a sweet and wonderful character. I loved that he had a goal, and even though it was delayed, he still accomplished it with his wife and daughter supporting him. The marriage between him and Lily is one of my favorite things about this book. I loved that they were super close best friends and supported each other with so much love!

Gideon: This man had such growth in this book that I'm honestly so proud of him. Yes, it took him a while to pull his head out of the sand, but once he did, he embraced it fully and didn't let things hold him back from being truly happy. He had some setbacks, but those only made him come back stronger and a much better person.

Lily: I know this is a MM series, but I honestly would absolutely love to see a book about her in the future, as a spin-off. I want to know more about her inner thoughts and everything. I loved how she supported Silas and Gideon and only wanted the best for them, even at the end of the book. Just thinking about her gives me a small heartbreak to think about what all she has had to overcome and relearn on what is true in the world.

Also, Addys rock (iykyk) I loved how it was in the right place at the right time, and how it was referred to later after the event.

I was so lucky to receive an ARC of Wrap Around by Rebecca Rathe and I cannot wait for you all to experience this story.

This is the story of Gideon and Silas, who had my heart right from the beginning of this book. It’s a childhood friends to enemies to lovers, hockey romance (with plenty of hockey) though hockey is really just the catalyst that joins these two back together.

I don’t want to give too much away because you need to experience this book without spoilers. Though if you have triggers, I would check the warnings for this one.

This is a story of surviving the best way you can, keeping yourself and those you love safe, even if it means keeping some secrets, it’s a story of escaping, learning to live as your true self and ultimately true love and connection. It’s beautiful and heart breaking and heartwarming all at once.

The characters all were all so well written, I was fully invested in their story, they hurt, they healed, they loved and laughed, as did I along with them.
