There are two types of readers: 1.) Those who can suspend reality and enjoy this story for its completely unhinged characters and over-the-top plot and 2.) Those who should walk away after reading the content warnings. As much as I wanted to be the first type of reader, I learned I’m sadly the second. I should have taken heed of the warnings and walked away.

I think this story would have worked better for me as a monster romance or alien romance. I found the main character’s naivety impossible to believe. I did not find it cutesy that he was convinced the person obviously trying to murder him was trying to date him.

There was zero emotional connection between the characters and zero emotional connection for me as the reader. My heart wasn’t in it.

The erotica was good and smutty though.

I do have several friends who loved this one though, so perhaps my problems with it are mine alone.

Honestly star rating is for vibes only. The comedic timing in this book is on point. All of it is a laugh riot and surprisingly free of typos.

Yeah, this book is absolute mayhem the whole time. Now, you have to go into this book knowing that they're going to do and say some offensive stuff or it will put you off. It's crazy all over, yet entertaining and makes you want to see what in the world is going to happen with these two.

Scotty is so delulu that it takes him quite a while before he truly realizes that Brody has ACTUALLY been trying to kill him the whole time. It's just that Scotty kept derailing the hitman with his antics. I was laughing like an idiot during the first chapter because Scotty is recalling when he first saw Brody waiting in his bushes with a sniper rifle, how it was a special moment. Yeah, he was there to kill you Scotty but whatever. He recounts all of his "Daddy" sightings since and now he sees him in the club, present time. At the club there is a murder attempt, a love confession, a hookup, confused hitman, a weird conversation, and a rusty wrench. So yeah, it's a lot...all the time!

Scotty jumps Brody several times, while we know that Brody is into it and is confused as to why he likes it, Scotty just assumes all of this is a sexy game. I kid you not and it became a game of Murder Daddy, where Scotty would threaten Brody with whatever weapon he brought that time. Doing so was to make Brody's internalized homophobia shut up in his head and let him enjoy the moment. Whatever works for you mister! Murder is their love language and it absolutely works for them. They do have some sweet moments in between their crazy and it was nice to see Brody come around to being his true self, feeling free for the first time.

“Why, Uri?”
“Because he hurt you.”
“No one gets to hurt you but me. They don’t even get to f*cking touch you.”

This book is not for everyone and their initial encounters can be taken as very wrong and inappropriate. Also, many people will have an issue with Brody being married in this book. Brody and his wife have an open relationship, always have and they even brought in a third who is Brody's best friend. Now their relationship has been strained for a while and was pretty much over by the time he meets Scotty officially. At no point in time is Brody cheating and he becomes exclusive with Scotty immediately. Brody's best friend actually ends up with Scotty's best friend in the next book, so yeah.

“I’m going to marry you one day, Scotty,” I say, my voice so low only he and God can hear. “And when I propose, I’ll slit your f*cking throat if you say no.” Tears flood his eyes, and he sniffles, his voice cracking when he says, “Promises, promises, Daddy.”

The ending is a bit out there but makes sense with all things considered from this book. Make sure to check those trigger warnings and have an open mind if you decide to read this.
