This third volume was the saddest of the series so far, but I loved the change of scene and the device of the book to tie the stories together. It is also nice to see the recurring characters continue to grow.

I've only read this one and 'Before the Coffee Goes Cold' and felt that this was a little flat in comparison. Don't get me wrong, it still hits the heart strings, but I felt that the stories were less gripping. I suppose this is part of what happens when the characters all go through the same act of goes through the past. Like those working at the café, perhaps the reader loses the feeling of being emotional as the concept becomes more familiar.

This was a lovely read, as the prior two books have been. If you are easily emotional, be prepared to sob at deaths past and present (not exactly a spoiler as people often return to the past to visit dead loved ones). This book took a sadder and darker turn with an eventual pivot to hopefulness for happiness in the future. One that does not rely on the physics presence of others.

Oh my lord! This book was heartwarming until it ripped my heart out right at the end 😭😭😭 It was a mix of 'chill read but couldn't put it down!' kind of book. A brilliant continuation to "Before the Coffee Gets Cold" and "Tales from the Cafe". If you're reading and you haven't read this series, you're definitely missing out.
