I enjoyed Wretched so freaking much. It was a fast and easy read with a satisfying amount of mystery. The best part of the book is obviously the MCs. Eveline and Nicholas had the best kind of tension between them, there was the forbidden vibe, the I hate-you-but-not-really vibe. I loved the fact that their chemistry was instantly electric, and it was them trying to resist each other.
Nicholas had the golden retriever vibes; he had his secrets and morals but turned possessive or protective of Evelyn. It was so interesting watching him fight with his inner moral compass.
I would normally rate this book a 4-star because I felt as if the plot was missing at certain points. I hated Dorothy or their father, but because they were meant to be hated. Their characters were not so smoothly built for me. However… EVELINE.
But I shouldn’t have worried because when I finally catch up, she’s already inside the house, a guy on his knees in the center of the room, her giant gun pressed against his head.
Eveline was breathtaking, she was amazing, a total badass, and completely unapologetic. She had the attitude and the mind. She knew who she was, and what she could do, and SHE DID IT. Her PoVs were everything. I love a merciless villain FMC and she served it. For her alone, the book deserves all the stars.
Did I like it? Yes.
Would I read it again? Yes! I already miss my wife.
