Too zany and chaotic

Cute story of a shy girl who escapes through her twitter by writing cheesy lines about a fantasy boy based on her crush.
He finds out and they begrudgingly forge a friendship (more than a friendship?).

I love that he can be himself around her and they accept each other for who they are.

Want to thank the publishers and Netgalley for letting me read this! I will be honest and said I took a leap of faith with this book because I am not the biggest fan of straight romance, BUT I loved this manga so much. The two working through their own securities is so cute. The art is wonderful and I really can't wait to read the second volume.

ALSO! Ellie has a real twitter! 10/10 the coolest.

Lovely high school romance between a popular guy and a quiet eccentric girl!

Lovesick Ellie # 1 is the book's first volume that introduces us to our main characters. Eriko Ichimura, a wallflower student with a secret Twitter account named Lovesick Ellie, where she posts stories imaginary stories about a secret boyfriend she likened to a popular, charming, handsome classmate, Ohmi. Through an unfortunate event, she realized Ohmi is not as friendly and charming as he pretends to be! He also found out about her secret account! Their first encounter started a series of more interactions and unlikely friendship, which seemed to bloom into something more.

This manga is beautifully illustrated with cute chibi styles as well. It really sets the youthful mood that fits the story. Our main characters are both fun and relatable at times. They can also be rather frustrating. Eriko's Ellie persona is hilarious and a little bit embarrassing too! But overall, our two main characters are so cute together! While the story is a cliché shoujo manga, what sets it apart is the personalities of both Eriko and Ohmi. A solid first volume that hints at more of Ohmi's past.

I am looking forward to more volumes!

Thank you, NetGalley and Kodansha, for the eARC.

I saw Horimiya and kiss him, not me! In summary, I knew I had to read this. It started off confusing but as you read it gets better. Eriko, our MC, has a Twitter account where she posts tweets fantasizing about her life with the school’s popular guy. Ohmi Kun is a social butterfly who is kind and gentle with everyone but one person and that would be Eriko. With her, he is absolutely a different person- a true version of him and this only makes her fall for him even more. The story follows these two adorable characters as they grow into the best version of themselves as they step into adulthood.

Reading this made me miss my high school life. It’s been a while since I read manga and this gem made me want to start reading them again. This was an endearing, cute and humorous read. It’s surprising how I didn’t find this manga soon considering I spent half of my time on shoujo content. I can’t wait to read volume 2. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is reading this reminded me of any other shoujo manga.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.

This was such a fun read and I enjoyed it way more than I was expecting, which was a nice surprise. There were quite a few moments that elicited deep belly laughs and the characters already feel endearing in just one volume.

I know the final volume (volume 12) will be out in print soon so this is the perfect time to read it!
