Read this in one marathon session until 4:30 in the morning. I just couldn't put it down. WOW. Great story and finally the back story for Gideon! Now, I have to wait 3 months for the last book...boo :(

Well this took a turn! Obviously a book like this, which is a sequel to a book that ended with the couple getting together, has to scramble to find some conflict, and boy howdy this book found it.

What Bared to You is about: romance, opening up to people, surviving abuse, healing from abuse, cute sexy corporate relationships, a fantasy for women who want to be rich, find a beautiful man who thinks the world of them, and live happily ever after

What Reflected in You is about: cheating, lying, murder, rape, how easily jealousy can destroy a relationship, how unhealthy it is to try to work through your problems with your partner through sex, more cheating, more lying, literal actual murder, I cannot stress that one enough, and so much else that makes the reader sit back and go, "Jesus Christ I wasn't prepared for that."

I'm going to keep the comparisons to Abigail Barnette's The Boss rolling here, too, and just admire Day for her guts. I would never have thought the second book in a romance series about exorbitantly rich people would do a murder. I also didn't expect the details of Gideon's abuse to be revealed just yet so it's nice to have that out in the open so quickly.

Uh, yeah, I'm a little dumbstruck. I'm just gonna hit play on the third book, okay? Okay. Great. Onward!

Just when I thought the rollercoaster was over….
This book, and this series is like a rollercoaster that will definitely give you motion sickness and whiplash.
Seriously though, I’m sitting here wondering what the big deal with Cross is.
Don’t get me wrong, I get it…he is…pretty fantastic, but the whiplash…it’s UNREAL.
Part of me feels torn with how I feel about this particular novel, what’s more is that there are three more books in the series… (Seriously Penguin…you couldn’t leave well enough alone and you had to push the author for a five book series -____- Sometimes I wonder if Sylvia Day would have made more money if she just stayed indie….maybe not). Don’t take the tone of my intro too seriously, I don’t think this was a bad book; I just think it had A LOT of things in it.

Happily Ever After finally seems attainable to the new Gideon, Eva, power couple. They still have a lot of demons to face and a lot of monsters in their closet but there’s nothing they can’t work out together. This relationship is new to them and opening up is difficult for two people who’ve suffered from abusive lives. Each day brings a new challenge and each day brings them another step closer. However, the arrival of Gideon’s ex, Corrine is less to be desired. It’s in Eva’s nature to be jealous and she has every right. But when Gideon starts sneaking around, spending more time with Corrine she questions his motives. First he’s one way and then another and then she doesn’t know what to think. Gideon is hiding something that, in Eva’s eyes, could ultimately destroy them.

Supertinynotevenreally Spoiler alert, which isn’t really a spoiler, more like a warning.
Nothing will make sense until like the last few pages of the book.
The reason I’m telling you this now is because my heart literally couldn’t take it.
I had a different anger in this book than the anger I felt for Kiera in the Thoughtless series by S. C. Stephens.
It wasn’t that I was angry at the moral choices the character made, I was just angry at Gideon’s actions in general.
I would have been exactly where Eva was….torn, broken, unsure, lost. Being in that hole DEFINITELY sucks and I don’t know how she stayed in there as long as she had. Holy crap, I would have lost my ish a long time ago…

“I’m obsessed with you, angel. Addicted to you. You’re everything I’ve ever wanted or needed, everything I’ve ever dreamed of. You’re everything. I live and breathe you. For you.”

If I had a boyfriend and he pulled the stuff Gideon pulled….OH MAN I wouuld have like…had a fit, like a serious fit, probably because I can’t put up with stuff like that. Like all the secrecy, all the distance, and the whole ‘trust me’ bit? NOOOOOOOOO that ish does not fly!
In the end it was worth it…but was it really, like to put someone through all that turmoil…
Ultimately, YES, but at the same time…NOOOO!! IT’S A BIG NO NO!
I get how communication wasn’t a thing in this book and I get the reason why but….no. Just. No.

I don’t blame Eva’s actions at all for anything that happens in this novel or series. I find her rather refreshing to be completely honest, and it’s not entirely too often that I enjoy female leads.
She is definitely a much better person than I could be, has a good head on her shoulders, and yes, has every right to react the way she did to every every, especially if someone like Gideon is her boyfriend. That boy/man whatever has like…major issues… I love him, and I think he’s fantastic and hawt and just gorg but…he’s got some…issues….

“Maybe there were people out there whose love could survive anything, but mine was fragile. It needed to be nurtured in order to thrive and grow.”

The saving grace was the very end, I mean literally…the last few pages. I was almost sure we weren’t going to find out what Gideon was up to…and literally that was the only reason the book was tolerable. But I mean THE LAST FEW PAGES!?!? SERIOUSLY!?!?!
Gideon Cross is a challenge, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take a leap of faith with him ;)

I never thought I would say this, but there was too much sex. I whizzed through the first one, this one I got bored with at times. It got kind of annoying with the constant repetitive nature of Eva and Gideon's relationship. Basically he does some tiny little thing, she flips out and runs away, he goes after her, they have sex, there are nightmares, they have more sex, and oh they have more sex.

I did like the drama added from supporting characters, which made things more interesting, but Eva and Gideon got on my nerves after a while. I will still read the last one though.

I tore through this book. I loved it. Especially because it wasn't all about sex, there was a mystery, and a real relationship that made me very happy.

Solo me gusta.

I gave up at 24% because I just didn’t care. It all felt like a rehash of book 1 and it was actually boring me.
