How do I even start this review with so much information and the unexpected turn of events that left my jaw dropped when I finished?

I will start off by saying that I feel this book left me with more ‘questions’ then answers which is to be expected given this is planned to be a 5-6 book series. I have a feeling we will get more answers in the next book, which I think people are forgetting.

Every chapter had me page turning and fighting to get more information.. I will say I was a bit frustrated with Violet most of the book because of her lack of awareness, understanding, and sympathy, especially with Xaden. The book is her internal dialogue and obviously she is young and has growing up to do, but I did find myself frustrated by her constant complaining and making every situation about HER. I guess it will show character development in the future.

Otherwise, I can tell the lore with this series is going to get even crazier & wilder and I know we are in for a treat!

Can’t wait for Onyx Storm!

I didn't enjoy this as much as the first one, but I still sped through it and I enjoyed being back in the world! I did think it lost something especially in the main characters' relationship - the dialogue felt unlike them and it was all a bit forced. It felt a bit crowded as well, but I did especially enjoy the end action sequence!

I disliked the firts 3rd of the book when all Violet did was complain about trust and shit, but I liked the battles and trainings here more than in the first book.
Tairn is great as always

An excellent sequel to Fourth Wing. It’s nice to see the world-building and plot twists continue (Rebecca Yarros is a master of cliffhangers I didn’t see coming). I enjoyed watching Violet, her friends, and Xaden continue to live their lives together. I don’t see how Yarros can keep this up for three more books, but I’m very much looking forward to the next one!
