'Everything I Never Told You' by Celeste Ng absolutley blew me away. I found myself immediately drawn into the book and could not put it down. Every new chapter broke my heart as it illuminated the struggles and stories of a Chinese-American family doing everything they could to survive in a world that wasnt made for them. Generational trauma, racism, prejudice, misogyny, are but a few of the real challenges these characters faced. I will never be able to forget the way it made me feel.

I loved how internal this book was. How it illuminated the misconceptions of how we perceive others’ behavior, the dangers of it even. Especially the dangers. Each character possessed a voice so uniquely their own that the shifting of perspective welcomed a new empathy. But it also gave me another sadness to contend with. If I struggled to wrap my head around the novel’s tragedy in the beginning, its resolution was even more difficult and heartbreaking, though it ends with meditations of hope.
