This one is really getting to me. This is the second novel I have read by this author, and I continue to enjoy the writing and story telling - though it was an extremely difficult topic to read (major trigger warnings). I should have gathered that when the first line is "Lydia is dead".
The pressure that Lydia felt by her family, how they were all affected by her death, the actions that we take and how they are viewed by others...I'm a mother of 2 little ones and this novel gave me some enlightenment, as well provided some fears.
The heaviness of this novel is not something I enjoy - but don't get me wrong, it is a fantastic and insightful novel. But I think I will go to a lighter read next.

I really liked this book. I felt the characters had multiple layers and were well written. I was annoyed with the actions of the parents, but I felt they were well written. I am looking forward to reading more from Ms. Ng.

Didn't find it engaging. Also thought the story would centre around Lydia's death but guess I misinterpreted or misread the synopsis. Not my sort of thing, was expecting  and hope for it to be more of a fast-paced murder-mystery vibe.

Well-written but so depressing. I want to hug everyone in this book.

I’d give it a 3.5 if I could. Gorgeous writing but the story was oh so bleak.
