Absolutely loved this and it's going to stick with me for a while. I highly recommend that you listen to the audiobook version because the narrator doing the different voices I think created 85% of the creepy factor. The story itself was probably pretty creepy on its own, but the VOICES! 😳😳😳 If you had told me prior to this year that I would enjoy and recommend an audiobook over reading I'd have said you were delusional, but here we are! Narration is 4.5*

Note: i listened to the audiobook and definitely recommend going this route

I really really enjoyed this book!! So unsettling and spooky from the beginning but not TOO much that it feels like there’s nothing left to discover or anticipate. You can definitely feel the passion and love the author put into this work.
The only thing is that I feel like it was a tad too long and Part 4 could have been significantly shorter (it felt like it dragged jusy a bit in some areas of this part). However, this wasn’t bad enough for me to dock the rating.

So while not perfect,  my enjoyment of this book is really what drove me to give it 5 stars. Anything less would feel disingenuous.

This really grabbed me for the first 60% or so of the book, but the ending was lacklustre. It had the potential, but it died off closer to the end.

if i would’ve known the author wasn’t an indigenous individual, i wouldn’t have read this and recommend that you don’t read this. in terms of the plot, the beginning and middle are pretty good, but the ending is awful. the author also uses indigenous characters, history, folklore, etc. to further the story/plot for the white characters and then proceeds to kill off the indigenous characters??? only for the white characters who caused all of the problems for the now dead indigenous characters to walk away safe and happy? at the end of the book the author goes to speak on the exploitation of indigenous voices and stories but does that exact thing in the book he just wrote??? it almost feels like a joke.
