Brief flashes of profundity aren't enough to disguise the essence of nothing that is the defining characteristic of this book. Fitzgerald attempts to pass off his lack of substance through curious enjambment and a blatant disregard for grammar (as poets do), but it's not enough to fool anyone who's read even a shred of modern poetry.
