The pacing in this book had me confused at times, but I believe that was the point. The second form did get annoying after a while. There were a lot of big words that felt unnecessary. I would have liked a more wrapped-up finale scene with Amanda. I wanted redemption for the main character and although he has a reckoning, redemption feels far off for him.

I liked the manipulation of the pacing. It was meant to feel chaotic and it did. It went so fast until certain scenes. He really took his time with pivotal scenes. I like the twist at the end where he is running from his brother. His mom dying made me understand his downward spiral.

I actually really enjoyed it and it's a super quick read - but it doesn't really develop much. The most interesting emotional development comes in the last several pages which is nice, yet the whole book kind of feels like a short story.

Fast paced, with many great moments. Told in the 2nd person, which I don’t recall encountering in any other novel - gives a very unique perspective.

You didn't really enjoy this book. You thought it was pretty gimmicky with its second-person point of view. You thought you might have enjoyed it more if you were living in the New York in the 1980's and a male. You may have glamorized it if you were somewhere in the age range of 18-21 years old. You found it a light enough read so it didn't make you feel like you wasted too much time. You probably wouldn't revisit it in the future.

Misogyny and racism abound!! I never felt sorry for the narrator. He sucked.
