I was able to read this for free thanks to Net Galley, although that does not affect my opinion of the actual book. If there’s mentions of refurbishing, redecorating, or rebuilding, I am automatically interested in reading more. This book is about Lucy, a woman who is in need of renovation, as is the hotel that she just began working at. For the most part, I could picture this book as a movie in my head. There were definitely some moments throughout the book where it felt like Lucy forgot that she was in fact forty nine, as she acted a bit high schoolish. Ultimately, I just didn’t really connect well with the story like I was hoping I would.

This book was as charming as the French boutique hotel it’s set in. 😍 Lucy feels like her life is over when, nearing 50, her life partner leaves her and her career ends all in one fell swoop. But she gets a second chance when she’s offered the General Manager position at a boutique hotel in Rennes, France. When she arrives, the hotel is not quite what she bargained for, but I’m the end turns out to be so much more. 💖 This was a quick and charming read!

Really cute story about beginning again. I loved all the characters and the setting. Entertaining plot and just enough drama to keep you reading.

this was absolutely amazing. i love reading books with "older" female main characters aka not 20 somethings in college or freshly graduated. the second chance romance. the found family. everything about this book was perfect.

At first, I really struggled to get into this one. However, I did end up enjoying it in the end.
Lucy is a hotel manager who had lost her job because the man she had loved stole all of the money from the hotel and ran away. She moves to France for a fresh start in her industry. However, the hotel is very run down and is very different from what she is used to. Despite this, Lucy stays on to help renovate the hotel.
I went into this thinking it would be more of a romance, but I would say it's more of a women's fiction.
Overall, I didn’t really feel connected to any of the characters or the storyline, and some plot lines just did not seem realistic. There were also times where the dialogue felt choppy, but this may also be because they were supposed to be speaking French.
In regards to the romance, to me it felt very surface level and I didn't really feel like they were truly in love by the end of the story.
However, I loved reading about the renovations of the hotel and the transformation it underwent (probably because I'm an HGTV girly lol). I also loved watching Lucy grow and open up to new possibilities throughout the novel.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an eARC in exchange for an honest review!

Thank you @NetGalley for the ARC of Lucy Checks In.
I enjoyed this story very much. It is a slow burn and no spice, but it really gives a great story of love and found family. I also enjoyed that the main love interest characters were older. I have lived abroad in France and also liked reminiscing about my own time in France as I read about Lucy's story. I do think some parts of this book could have been edited down, but overall a solid read.
