This book really gave me Emily in Paris vibes at first but I was truly disappointed. The pacing of the book was so slow, for me there was no real chemistry between both love interests. Really thought we were going to get more romance but sadly that was not the case. I do believe this might have just not been a right book for me mostly because of the age gape between me and Lucy. But I encourage everyone to pick this book up and give it a try!

Thank you St. Martin Press and Netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

Lucy is a disgraced hotel manager, once highly respected her manager and owner embezzled millions and fled leaving people skeptical as to her involvement.

She gets the opportunity to travel to France two years later and help rebuild a hotel. She wasn’t expecting the hotel to be in such disrepair.

She has a ragtag team of misfits to help with the rebuilding including an 80 year old who likes to garden, a grumpy driver, and Bing an artist who lives in the attic.

While it wasn’t what Lucy expected she has found a home amongst the group.

I liked that Lucy was older and starting over. There was some drama with her family, and an unexpected tragedy causing her to make some decisions. The romance part was light as they were enemies to friends to lovers. I did love the found family and some of the side stories.

I received an arc for review, all opinions are my own and given freely.

I really like how her books are based on older women getting second chances and everything is set in France. And not like cheesy hot french man in Paris and American tourist twenty somethings steamy moments finding different places to get physical. She has real people with real issues. I like that they are really adults with adult baggage and adult wisdom. Now if you'll excuse me while I pack my bags (well I guess I'll settle for a Kouign Amann and a French lesson on Duolingo).

This was ok. I was looking for more of a Romcom than what this was, but it was still fine.

I liked that the main character was almost 50 years old. I also liked the premise of having to start over, and finding a more accurate version of yourself in the process.

While I did feel the found-family atmosphere in this book, the romantic aspect just didn't do it for me. I didn't feel Lucy and Bing had much chemistry, so I found it really hard to keep looking for that to work out better.

I will say, I now want to go to France and do nothing but eat bread and butter and cheese because of this book.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book. I review above is my honest opinions.

3 stars!

After spending the last couple of years trying to clear her name from a huge scandal that occurred at the famous hotel she worked at, Lucy decides to head to France, to the only hotel who will give her a chance to start over in the industry she loves. Upon arriving and encountering many things she doesn’t expect, Lucy and a group of people living at the hotel try to put it, and her life, back together.

I read the first 30% of this then kind of skimmed and skipped to the end. I just found it so boring. I didn’t connect with Lucy or the other characters, I don’t think they were developed enough. Lucy’s constant talk about her weight in a negative way bothered me. The story at the beginning was overly detailed about the hotel and so slow moving, then the ending was very unexpected. I wasn’t a fan of this. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the free preview in exchange for an honest review.

What a gem of an author! I started this book immediately after finishing her other book. The main characters are dynamic and interesting.

I felt this may be one of those the covers does not match the content? I was expecting to see Lucy's reflective journey as she grows, but you would not be able to tell she's almost 50 based on the cover. It was more of a "whelp this is where I am" kinda story...which is a hard sell for me honestly.

I received an ecopy of this book through Netgalley; however, my opinions are my own.
