Captain Hook retelling (I think??), I liked the world building and magic system. Supposed to be a dark fantasy, but this book made me think that maybe most fantasy is dark? The only dark elements were kidnapping and murder? Am I jaded by dark fantasy elements?

Pretty solid book! It definitely gives Captain Hook vibes. I’m always down for all things Fae, so that alone sold me on the book. I thought the author’s style was a good mix of adventure and narrative explanations. The spice was mild based on the way the author chose to depict it, which I didn’t mind but figured it was worth annotating for those who do. Anyway—I will definitely read Book 2.
