"This next song goes out to the girl who shredded my heart without hesitation back in high school. It's called Ball Busting Bitch, and Lanie, this ones for you."

Now if that line doesn't hook you in.. I have no idea what will.

Rock the Heart was such a good book! Lanie and Noel were on fire throughout the book. god, I loved their second chance kind of romance. The amount of sass and salty quotes gave me life.

Now Noel is salty AF when he sees his ex among the crowd in the middle of a concert. Of course he is still attracted to her and shit but when he calls her out before he goes into another song.. well, I couldn't help but do a slow clap for him.

Lanie is trying to do so well in her internship. It's her dream job and she would literally do anything for her boss at this point. Well, until she get's the worst news ever. She has to tour with her ex boyfriends band, Black Falcon.

Of course I wanted this hot mess of a reunion because I wanted to ship them so freaking badly. I absolutely love second chance romances and these two definitely gave me life. Things get hot and heavy after their super awkward encounter. I was hooked from the start. Their feelings for each other were so genuine and real and I loved it. Again, their chemistry was basically on fire.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and getting to see their romance blossom again. I can't wait to read the second book now.

This book is very moreish.... i put it down then picked it up wanting a few more pages.....

So Noel

Yea that's how i see him!

Is the lead singer of the famous band Black falcon! Once Lane is assigned to work with the band love reignites between the sweet twosome.

The book is beautifully written, the steam is amazing, the characters are fantastic.... I hope the other members of the band get a story!

Some of the reactions the characters have to certain situations i found a little unrealistic, but it didn't take away from how much i loved this book... definitely will be reading the next!

Not good

This wasn't that great. Not enough drama or angst. Everyone was forgiven far too easily and things were resolved too quickly.

Rock the Heart and the rest of the Black Falcon Series by Michelle A. Valentine has been at the top of my TBR list for a long time. So since I knew I Michelle was coming to the Wicked Book GNO I was planning, I jumped right into reading it after it was free for a day. I love Rock Star Books! See my list of my favorite Rock Star/Famous Character Books here: http://anas-attic.com/anas_diary/top-rock-star-or-famous-character-books/. I also have a 15 year old touring guitar player/singer so I am around bands all the time (in fact he is on tour this summer! Mom and dad will be following the tour bus!) So when I read 'rock star' books, I sometimes struggle with authenticity.

Lanie is an intern at Center Stage Marketing. She is trying to find the career-making opportunity, but it finds her. The problem? The job is to work with rock god Noel Falcon from the band Black Falcon. Normally this wouldn't be a problem. Unless that is the guy whose heart she broke 4 years prior, when she broke up with him at 18 because she wanted him to find something "practical" to do with his life, not music.

Noel’s always been the ‘what if’ for me. The one who got away.”

But Noel never fell out of love with her. He is bitter, even after four years, but the spark is still there.

"This next song goes out to the girl who shredded my heart without hesitation back in high school. It's called Ball Busting Bitch, and Lanie, this one's for you."

Lanie has been waiting for a career break, and she will do whatever she has to to keep her job and make a good impression. The project is to help Noel set up a children's charity. His requirement? That Lanie go on tour with the band for 2 weeks.

"What in the hell am I going to say to Noel? Sorry for stomping your heart four years ago? Oh and by the way I’m only here to land my dream job."

Noel just made it seem like he was looking for “the chance to get back inside that tight, little body of yours.” But as a reader, you knew it was so much more.

“Don’t you remember how hot we were together, Lane? God.” He takes a quick breath through clenched teeth and runs his hand down my side, “The things I can do to your body if you’d let me.”

"I'll do anything you want to make this happen between us, including give you time because I can't lose you again. It hurts too fucking much."

There was a lot of waffling back and forth. One minute Noel is angry, the next he is crying and whining. I had trouble with the 23 year old Rock-God status. And Lane was just a bit of a selfish bitch sometimes. Yet I still want to know more. I felt a little like this was a rough draft for bigger and better books.

Likes:

-I love a Rock Star book!
-I love a reunited/never fell out of love book.
-I like Michelle's voice and writing style, and I think as it gets honed it will get way better.
-If you like rock star books, you'll enjoy this.
-Tattooed. Pierced. Rock Star. Need I say more?

Dislikes:

-I felt there was nothing new or unique.
-A lot of issues were left unresolved.
-She is supposed to be working, but never seemed to work.
-It was a little tamer than I expected. More New Adult than adult.
-Lane was a little too whiny and beggy for me. I prefer a more alpha guy.
-There were numerous errors. I had an old version and a newer one and both had too many errors.

Rating: 3.25 stars 3 Heat

Rock the Heart was a fun rock star read, but there was nothing memorable or stand-out about it. There was sex, but it was fairly tame. There was a lot of waffling back an forth on feelings as well. It was the author's first book, and I found a lot of errors. But I liked her voice and I am very interested in continuing the series, I expect it to get a lot better.

"You're my heart Lane. You're my everything."

I really enjoyed reading this and the ending has becoming my all time favorite ending! How could you not love something so short and sweet? And to top it off it was lyrics to an awesome song!

I'd love to give it a bigger rating, but I wasn't emotionally invested in it as much as I'd liked to have been but it was very well written and hot!

(any chance for a spin off book with Striker? :D)

Great little story with a twist, although I was ready to shut the book on both Noel and Lanie at one point. Stubborn fools! Well played, Michelle Valentine, well played!! Nice twist and a great little rock n'roll romance! Now....let's get the books about the rest of the band going!

1.5 stars - I just couldn't get into this one at all. I'm not sure what it was, but the characters grated on my nerves and nothing settled right. I expected such great things, so was left really disappointed. It gets 1.5 stars because I suppose I must have liked it enough to finish it, and it takes something really awful for me to ever rate a book as less than that.

3.5 stars! This was a cute quick romance novel. It had the perfect amount of romance, sex and drama. At first I didnt like Lane that much. She came off as very judgmental especially about Noel. Noel was your typical lead singer man whore but he was a sweetheart. The whole thing with Sophia and Riff was crazy. It seemed kind of random at first but in the end it all worked out. Cant wait to read RIff and Aubreys story.

Right before leaving for college, Lanie broke things off with her boyfriend/next door neighbor Noel Falcon. She needed stability in her life and didn't think his dreams of becoming a rock star was going to give her that. Fast forward four years and Lanie is an unpaid intern at a New York marketing company trying to land herself a permanent position by getting the rock band Black Falcon to allow the company to run his children's charity. Lanie wants the job, but she's just not sure if she can handle coming face to face with the love of her life after breaking both their hearts.

Give me a book with a rock band in it and I'll enjoy it. Make the focal point of the story a hot as hell, sensitive lead singer who just wants his girl back and I'm all over it.

Noel was my favorite part of the book. He was such a generous, sensitive soul and he was somewhat beaten down by life events he didn't really have control over. But it was clear, from the very beginning, that he wanted Lane back. Didn't matter what her reasons were for leaving him in the first place or the road blocks she throws up now. He wants her and he's going to do whatever he can to make sure he has her. Probably not the best solution, considering some of the "issues" he still has to deal with, but he was always honest with his feelings for her. It just makes me melt just thinking about it now.

For Lane's part, she soon realized that all her reasons for breaking things off with Noel was BS. She may have a college degree, but that piece of paper doesn't guarantee the stability she thought it did. So you can understand why she'd be willing to do just about anything to get herself permanent employment. She tried to maintain that professional distance with Noel, but he was too much of a force to reckoned with...especially when he was able to get her what she wanted so badly....her job.

My only complaint about this book is that it ended too soon I needed more of Noel, Lane and the rest of Black Falcon. I guess I'll survive until the BF 1.5 novella comes out later this month.
