I don’t love how his attraction seems rooted in a “she’s not like other girls”/“for some reason I’m attracted to this person who’s A mOm!?!! Not a LeGgY bUsTy BlOnDe!? Crrrrazzzyyyyyy”

I have found one of my new favorite authors! Jenni Bara really knows how to write a story and pull out all your emotions.

This book had me laughing and smiling like an idiot at so many points. I just wanted to curl up and devour the whole series (which is exactly what I did. I read the 1st and 2nd books in the same way).

It really had me wishing I had this big family, real close, and I would love to be a part of beer nights also.

It was cute rom com, a little cheesy, a little predictable. But I can’t fathom how you pick it up and don’t fall in love with it.

Plus it mentioned my mother Taylor Swift. And some subtle references to what could have been her songs. I’m also pretty convinced that the men are based off Chris Evans.

A single mother and an ex baseball star meet over a dishwasher, the most perfectly unusual and awkward beginning to a love story ever. I loved everything about these characters. From the spunky daughter who will have you in stitches, to the overprotective brothers, this story has a cast of characters that keeps you turning the pages. Marc is the typical bad boy turned family man after meeting Beth, the overextended, stressed out mother/sister. An unlikely pair but it works. They each support the other in ways they never thought they needed and both are changed for the better by the end. Even as outside forces threaten to tear them apart, Marc and Beth conquer the odds for their love. Dance in the rain with Marc and Beth. You won't be disappointed.

I received an ARC copy for the purposes of reviewing this book. It will be available on Kindle Sept. 14, 2021.

I am not going to put a star under -cry factor- for this story, but I am not embarrassed to admit that I may have cried a bit at the end because it was so sweet. I blame the hormones

Beth Evans has become a modern Snow White. Former Olympic gold medalist and daughter of the Secretary of State and hopeful VP candidate, Beth is no stranger to the media. And she hates it! She's had her touch of scandal in the past and it basically sent her to living a life "off the grid" when it comes to social media. Now, widowed at a young age, with two kids, she's surrounded by her "seven giants" - seven protectives brothers-in-law (+ a friend), who protect her but also dominate every aspect of her life. The last thing she needs is to add another "giant" in the form of Twitter's favorite bad boy, Marc Demoda.
Marc had been living the dream - baseball, women, fame - until a car accident ends his pitching career. He doesn't know how to live without baseball, but who wants to hire a notorious bad boy as a coach?
A fortuitous  picture of Marc and Beth on the media prompts them to strike a deal: they will both "clean up their images" to the media and then part ways. All this courtesy of Beth's highly domineering and bulldozing politician dad.  DNAs are signed, dates are arranged, deadlines are set... but no one bothered to tell the rules to their hearts.
What a wonderful kickstart to the Becoming an Evans series and it's also the author's debut novel!
You get Beth, and you really want to root for her. Her kids (loved little Mandy!) are adorable. Her band of brothers are a very interesting bunch (can't wait to read about all of them). And you get Marc... oh @sshole-y, stupid, alpha, commitment-phobe Marc! It was a joy to watch you fall, especially because you had no idea you were falling!
Great read! Sweet, slow burn, steamy fun!
Possible triggers and rep: Marc is hispanic/Latinx, his mother is Colombian. Mention of cheating by secondary characters, MMC was in a career-ending car accident, FMC lost her husband unexpectedly through illness; toxic relationship with parents.
