Finally an author who is not afraid to kill characters. 
I’m not going to lie… I skipped most of Helene’s chapters. And I’m not sorry about it. 
Elias and Laia… that is what I live for.

Overall I am at peace with how this series wrapped up. I do wish less people died - other ways to create distress and shock would have been nice to see. I also think this series could have been written as adult fantasy (not because spice at all) because I think there was great opportunity for more nuanced political intrigue and depth to these characters a d their stories. YA as a genre tends to gloss over some stuff which is fine but this series has such great bones and I wish there was more meat. Overall for its genre and age category this is a great fantasy series worth your time.

Unfortunately, this just didn’t hit the way I needed it to. It’s a wonderfully written finale to a fantasy, but I somehow became detached from the characters. Loved book 1 and 2, but 3 and 4 just fell flat for me.
