3.5 rating - This book started out very hard to read. I know the poor Grammer was supposed to be a reflection of the main characters age and intellect, but I felt like that could have been portrayed enough using just the voice and style. The ending was very beautiful though, and it wrapped up the story well.

This story weighs heavy on my heart. I watched the movie first and I'm so glad I came back to read the book. This is such an insightful book into what humanity can be like during war time and what it's like to try to pick up the pieces of your life and try to keep going.

I didn't like this at all. The writing style drove me crazy. I listened to it on audio, which might have made it worse, but the number of times the word "and" was used was astronomical. I felt absolutely no emotion during what should have been an emotional book. Just not my thing at all.
