⭐️ 4.5 stars - gripping, enticing, and fascinating - this book remains relevant. Really great read if you want to dive into where our modern depictions of hell come from. Would read again and recommend to others.

Side note - compared to other writers of the time (Shakespeare, Homer) it is much darker and less humorous, hence why it’s popularity seems limited comparatively. However, the writing itself is just as well done and deserves the same attention.

what can i say about this that hasn't already been said about the invention of the wheel? Dante would have LOVED ao3 if he were still alive. He talked about Virgils tender hands and firm breasts a tad too often for me to ignore. it's cool that he took inspiration from famous video game ULTRAKILL to write this. on a more serious note it was fun although half of it was mentioning places i didn't know (and Austria TWICE!!!) or hating on real people that he did not like, who i also did not know.

A difficult read, for sure. It took me a long time to finish. Very interesting with all the footnotes from the translator. I feel I have gained from reading this book. Even though I did not understand it all fully.

Disturbing and difficult word structure, both of which made it hard to read. The symbolism was a little fun to work out, but the antiquated views on morality and hell of the time calls for some strange and horrible punishments.
