No tenia idea de cuanto me gusta la ficción histórica hasta que leí este libro, me encanto, super recomendado!
.
This was a beautifully written and well developed story! It was definitely slow at points but I was consistently engaged. I found myself thinking about the characters even when I wasn't reading. There was just enough magical realism that it still felt like a “slice of life” type historical story.

Tell me a tall tale. Spin me a yarn. Weave me a story. This book is fantastic in the classic sense of storytelling. I listened captivated, head in hands until the very last line.
It takes the best elements of magical realism to tell the story of an abandoned baby boy found unharmed in a swarm of bees and the family who finds him. The story unfolds on a ranch in Mexico against the backdrop of tumultuous and violent historical events.
I loved some characters, despised others and was driven to each additional chapter by my desire to know what would happen to them and how it would end.
Magical realism is at its best for me when it only strays from what is real and objective to give a brief reprieve from the harsh realities of life and to help me remember that what is real and objective can also be miraculous, even unbelievable.

Bump it to 3.5. (Always seem to wish there were half points here to rate a book.)
Mixed feelings about this book. At times it was so good, and at at times I just wasn't sure.
I'm pretty much of a realist on things, so this was a little out of my comfort zone.
I also think some things may have been lost in the translation.
At one time it seemed someone was going to be a major character, and then it took a whole different turn.
Read it on Kindle, so was surprised when I discovered it was such a long book.
