10 estrellas!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Ahora entiendo porque veía en todos lados este libro. La historia es simplemente entrañable! Llena de personajes muy peculiares.

Me encanto!

This book is absolutely captivating! I fell in love with the magical world that was woven for me. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the deeply moving and thoughtful depictions of each of the characters and experiencing everything with them.

I have so many good things to say about this book, but I can't even string the right words together about it. This is exactly what I was hoping for when I picked this book up. I got to feel part of this family. I got to feel invested, excited, and curious, but I also was devestated, exhausted and withdrawn right next to them. The translation was so simply written but the way everything was strung together was elegant and seamless.

This is the type of book that you read slowly and lovingly. It will not disappoint. I'm sad that it's over, and I'm not sure I'll be able to pick up another book for a little bit.

Has potential! A special baby boy found under a bridge covered with honeybees who are his friends and talk to him -and a really old nursing maid who views with world from her perpetually rocking rocking chair. But not enough about these characters!
and so so sad…

Wow! I would never have had the opportunity to read this book had it not been for AmazonCrossing's annual offer of translated books. Translated by Simon Bruni, The Murmur of Bees by Sofia Segovia is beautiful storytelling from an area rich with generational storytelling, myths and fables. This is the story of the Morales Cortes family in the early 1900's, the town they live in: Linares, the various ranches and farms of the family, their immediate and devoted servants & family. At their heart is Simonopia, the magical child they found abandoned under a bridge in the nearby hills covered in bees. Simonopia was apparently abandoned as a newborn because of his horribly disfigured face (which as described would come eventually to be known as cleft palate). Who abandoned him? Why is he covered in bees? Why don't they sting him? How has he survived thus far? He is taken under the care of Nana Reja, a woman so old that no one knows her age, who has done nothing for years but sit in her rocker all day on a shed porch, quietly rocking with her eyes shut. She sleeps in her bed and rocks all day, never moving, until the morning when she is called by the wind to the place of Simonopio's abandonment. From that moment on, they are inextricably tied along with the constant companionship of the bees. There is an unspoken purpose to their life with the Morales Cortes' family and everyone loves and accepts Simonopio as a member of the family. The rest of this beautiful books tells the stories of the years as Simonopio moves towards his ultimate purposes as from even a young age he takes his magical role of the family protector seriously. That's all I want to share - it is really an exquisite story and I enjoyed every moment of it!

I'm finished with The Murmur of Bees: This was a bit tough to start but once I got into the rhythm of the prose and let myself experience the magical aspects the story came alive. Beautiful translation and the Audible version was excellent.
