This is the type of deep and meaningful BS I usually can't stand, but I guess I'd expect Tom King to go down this path. Luckily there is a lot of gorgeous BatCat art, even though it's all a dream in the end.

This was the downfall for me, it just really didn't do it for me. I even struggled to finish the issues. I stopped reading altogether after finishing volume 10 (although I came back the next year). It's just got boring to me, especially those "nightmares".

I mean...is this just all these are now? Just like...annuals? Each issues just a bunch of artists taking their shot at random Batman stuff with no real cohesive story or purpose? I get it. Trapped in dreams. But didn't we do this already with the whole tri-color Batman thing (or whatever it was) after his death? This feels like a clip show.

I'm a 40 year old man complaining about Batman.

Read as single issues.

I'm realizing that skipping The Button arc has made this even more confusing than it already was. Regardless, I continue to be less and less impressed with King and look forward to the day in the near future where Batman is given to a new writer. Finally.

I'm not even going to bother to separate this into a synopsis and a review, there's no point because it's going to be short. Batman is under the fear toxin and it's basically him processing Catwoman leaving him and getting closure on why she did. Thomas Wayne and Bane wrestle naked and argue, which is less fun than it sounds. I'm going to be honest, I thought this was a waste of time. I understand Bruce needs to process, but we didn't need this many issues to do it. I cannot imagine buying these as single issues - I would feel cheated, there's so little dialogue or story progression. The art is good, but the rest? Meh. I'm ready for Tom King's run to be over and I'm over Bane and I'm getting close with Thomas Wayne, which is a damn shame. Honestly, you could probably skip this entire volume and not miss anything.

Probably the weakest book for me. Batman is under Scarecrow’s gas and therefore this is a book of nightmares.
I was bored.
