I’ve read all of Devney Perry’s books. I absolutely love her writing. This story was very well written and made me happy. I was so glad Maisy finally got her happily ever after. I had a hard time with this book because all the secrets that I knew would be heartbreaking for Maisy stressed me out. I absolutely loved Hunter and his ease and love for Maisy and her son. The epilogue had me crying! So well done!

First, let me just say, that I am SO SO sad that this series has come to an end. But Devney Perry has just a brilliant way with words and just the right types of twists that leave you going omg and what did I just read! This book should be read after reading the rest of the books in the series. I highly recommend that so everything makes sense.
One thing that I love is seeing Maisy’s growth from the first book, The Coppersmith Farmhouse, to this one. Her development has been brilliant. Seeing how she has grown and moved from such a insane experience was perfect. She is still flawed but she is a fighter. Enter Hunter, someone she did not expect to walk into her life, and all bets are off. I really enjoyed how these two played off of each other. How much Hunter fought for her regardless of that epic twist! My jaw dropped. All I am gonna say about that one.
Overall, this is a brilliant read as was the rest of the series. Devney Perry is by far my favorite new to me author when I discovered her through recommendations last year. The Bitterroot Inn is a stunning ending to a beautiful series. Thank you for bringing these characters to life!

An intense mutual attraction. But secret pasts that could destroy everything.

Hunter Faraday’s reasons for moving to Prescott are in question from page 1 but seem tied to Maisy Holt’s past and especially to her son, Coby. As Maisy and Hunter get closer and deep feelings develop they keep their relationship secret; until one day when Maisy decides to go public and discovers her friends and family seem to know more about her secret boyfriend than she does. She struggles to accept things about Hunter that bring up the trauma from her past. And she’s only learned part of his story so far.

This is a suspenseful story for sure. The truths are revealed slowly. It’s a page turner. But Hunter and Maisy’s chemistry is immediate and they definitely heat up the pages as their relationship gets deeper. Hunter’s bond with little Coby is heart tugging. These three will steal your heart. Guaranteed.

The climax to this story, the secrets revealed are not completely unexpected but the way they are revealed. . . it’s simple. You will not be able to put down this book. Period.

Hunter, Maisy, and Coby deserve it all. It’s a treacherous road for them to get there so buckle up for the rollercoaster ride of your life. So worth it.

And the epilogue. It’s just very, very special.

This was such a good book to end the series (there is still a novella, but this is the end for all intents and purposes) because the story really comes full circle. We started the series out with this story of Maisy, a nurse at the hospital Gigi works at, and we see her life unfold over the years after the traumatic events that happened at the hospital that night but there isn't any closure...until now.

Hunter, a man with his own secrets and past, comes into town and sweeps Maisy completely off her feet. He's great with her son, is helpful and supportive of her dreams for her Inn, and he's the shoulder she's needed to lean on for years.

The only reason I don't feel like this was quite five stars is because it drove me insane how long it took for the truth to be revealed. And I didn't appreciate Maisy pushing Hunter away when he had been trying to talk to her for weeks. (Neither were forthcoming in the beginning, and it wasn't fair that she held it against him anyway)

But the ending was everything. Their engagement was so freaking sweet with the way that Hunter included Coby and don't even get me started on the epilogue. Rowen and Mason....!!!!! I'm fangirling so hard.

I really enjoyed this series. I'm sad that it's coming to an end, but I'm really excited to start Cliftok Forge to see all the side characters that have already been teased.

the epilogue DESTROYED me

I switched between the audiobok and ebook, the narrators did a good job.
