So, I am DNFing this book around 300 pages in. I CANNOT do it anymore. This book glorifies rape. I don't care if you try to say it is "historically accurate." Why is this one of the only things that is? It makes my skin crawl to read sex scenes where the MC continually says no, and then the love interest (rapist) does it anyways.

I was told this was a romance novel. WTF is sexy or romantic about rape?

This books is showing men that they can continually push their spouse for sex and get what they want, and it shows women if they don't want to have sex with someone, they will eventually like it if they cave in.

I am going to link to one of my tweets showing a scene in this book that is a forced sexual altercation that ends in the MC enjoying herself, if you want an example. It is absolutely gross and not romantic at all. https://twitter.com/Allibookgiraffe/status/1372944827478859785

Well written

An excellent read, rich with detail and depth to characters that pulls the reader into the story. Hours of enjoyment as you’re losing sense of time and space around you while reading. Exactly what any good fiction should do. Highly recommended.

This book has sucked me in. It really gets the reader invested in the characters, and is without a doubt the best historical/ historical romance novel I've read. Yes, there are problematic bits (SPOILERS):
-did she really love Frank?
-did Jamie really need to use his belt on her to teach her a lesson and show his men that she was penitent? Should we be a bit worried that he wanted to have sex with her immediately after this show of violence?

But man, I am HOOKED.
