It was weird, which can be ok but it wasn’t good for me. I found the pacing of the writing odd, like I’d be really into it then all the sudden bored for 50 pages. The ending was decent.
This story is firmly middle of the road for me. Had some fun and interesting moments but I never felt moved or caught myself saying "thats clever"—and whether fair or not, that's what I look for in a story.
I powered through the dry areas because I was intrigued by the premise but in the end it didn't really pay off for me.

decided to save for a rainy day and did not disappoint. the laws and logic of the magic / science system unraveled in a way that was reminiscent of sims 4 gameplay but it was loony enough that i had a great time— i love birds, i love little libraries and i love love, thank you!

Hmmm... I didn't really know what to rate this book. I completely enjoyed reading it, especially the first half (though it did get a bit redundant, we get it, your parents suck!) once it time jumps into the future the story gets super weird. I didn't hate it but it didn't hold me as captivated as the first half.
I would saw this is a 3.5 rating from me, but I'll bump it up to a 4 since I did find myself enjoying the read and I liked the authors sense of humor.

I liked the beginning when the two main characters were kids. The more I read the book the more I lost interest in the plot. By the time I was 75% done I wanted to skip to the last chapter just to finish the book.
I liked the concept of this book that magic and science had to work together to stop the end of the world but the execution of this idea wasn't that great. A lot of things happened so fast that I didn't really feel any closure. The main characters had a depth to them but all the other characters were one dimensional which kind of took away from the story.

Hoy quiero recomendarles Todos los pájaros del cielo, de Charlie Jane Anders, la obra ganadora de los premios Locus y Nebula de 2017 a mejor novela y que acaba de ser publicada en español por Insólita Editorial con la traducción de Natalia Cervera. Una historia maravillosa, emotiva y divertida que deberían leer.
Me encanta que la autora comienza los agradecimientos diciendo (o reconociendo) que hay cosas a las que se les podría no encontrar sentido. Porque así ha sido para mí, como que el mundo y sus sistemas de magia y ciencia estaban la mayor parte del tiempo un paso por detrás de la verosimilitud.
El principio me encantó, pensé que iba a ser un 5 estrellas, pero cada vez se fue volviendo más pesado, recalcando lo terrible que fueron las infancias de Laurence y Patricia. Estuve a punto de dejarlo, pero me ganó la curiosidad, y me decepciona un poco que tanto sufrimiento para eses peques no tuviera mayor importancia a lo largo de la historia más allá de “aquí estamos el uno para la otra porque en la infancia estuvimos la una para el otro”. Me gustó su amistad en la infancia y en la adultez, pero de una página a otra y solo lo vi venir porque amatonormaTM, no porque tuvieran química bien desarrollada (aunque sí que tuvieron sus momentos).
El final me gustó pero no como final. La pregunta de las aves no tuvo ninguna importancia, que El Árbol no interviniera antes no tuvo mucho sentido. Peregrino es el verdadero protagonista. Laurence estuvo bien trabajado como personaje pero Patricia se me quedo corta, como que me decían mucho de ella pero solo era muy poderosaTM y ya está.
En general me gustó, pero el libro se me llevó demasiado tiempo para lo que lo disfruté.
